This is such a beautiful place to walk/cycle/walk your dog/run or canoe. It is fairly flat although rather muddy in places and we did notice how quickly conditions can change; parts of the path which were fine when we used them mid morning were flooded across 2 hours later. It’s a beautiful open space with interesting features such as the many boats moored along the river banks, the locks, the fishing spots and lots more. We went down to the river from Woodlesford-quite a steep drop down to the river which seemed even steeper on the return leg of the journey. We were en route to RSPB St.Aidans. Very popular on a sunny day do you need to be aware of your surroundings at all times and look out for other path users.

Touring in my narrowboat was quite relaxing as the majority of the waterway is quite wide. It was suffering a layer of floating weed for much of the distance I travelled although it was no problem for my narrowboat. Mooring is a little infrequent but the official visitor moorings are excellent. Not too many locks so I was able to cover a conciderable distance in a very short time. The adjoining towpath seemed to be popular with cyclists and walkers.

Lovely place to walk, just be aware of the cyclists, some of them don't let you know they're behind you. Most are good but my dog is on a lead, small children might not be. Probably good for blackberries now😊

Lovely walk, great for biking, lots of nature to see, quiet, relaxed, but after a rain, watch for giant mud holes
