We are a family of 3, 1 (M) 41, 1 (F) 40, 1 (M) 4, and we visited Lotherton hall on 1/11/24 - We got there at 12:00 and parked our Nissan, Duke, 13 Plate.
We had a lovely time, we walked round the grounds which were beautiful my little one really liked the Deer. The spooky night had happened for Halloween the night before and was still up and was really cool. The kiddo really enjoyed pointing out the skeletons and I imagine when in full effect with all the noise and smoke and in the dark it would have been so so good I would totally recommend.
We went to the Wildlife park and it was cool. I loved the beautiful Penguins, 🐧 the Owl 🦉 , the Monkey’s 🐒, and the Fruit Bats 🦇, were our favourite. There was also a “school” room that had loads of additional information on animals and learning which was awesome the little one really enjoyed this. We found the escaped white bird was amusing as they seemed super content outside the cage.
There was an event going on in the stables area, which was for kids but VERY noisy which spoilt it for us a little. But everything won’t be for everyone tbh.
The park next to the stables was great. There were a couple of “mean girl” mums giving the look but we ignored them and got on with our day. Our little one enjoyed this area so much. He liked the big boy mental slide and the little under 5’s equipment.
We met LOADS of lovely people who stopped and talked to us especially the older couple looking after their grandchildren and really enjoying their time with them.
To be honest though it was a really good day and I would completely recommend going there for a...
Read moreVisited for Halloween half term week. Really enjoyed the skeletons and things around the grounds. Purchased a pumpkin patch ticket for £5 each, prior to arrival. Despite reading the information beforehand, I didn't think it had been made clear that nothing was included in the £5 price other than a short tractor ride. This was pointed out on arrival that we could upgrade in the field if we wanted to take part in any of the entertainment on offer as nothing was included. Once in the field, there were two tents set up. One with face painting and one with some colouring sheets and someone making balloon hearts on sticks. I couldn't see much else in the way of entertainment to warrant an extra £5 for each of my three children although a pumpkin was included in that price. We were very disappointed with the "entertainment" on offer so would think twice about booking! Karin in the coffee grind truck was absolutely brilliant though - making sure the hot chocolate wasn't too hot for my children and being super accommodating in general so my thanks to her! My kids enjoyed the wildlife world and the playgrounds and all the Halloween extras around that we wish we'd saved the £20 spent on a super short tractor ride! Long queue for ice cream van all day so be prepared to wait! Didn't visit the cafe on this occasion as there was a queue out of the door. Lotherton in general was amazing and we all enjoyed the woodland walk guessing the stories the skeletons were based on. We...
Read moreNever been to this place before so knew nothing about it. It’s relatively easy to get to. Prices were £10pp, and the parking is a bit away from the main gate through a twisty windy road that is strewn with ridiculous speed bumps. Make sure you go slow as these ones will definitely break your car suspension!! No need to have this many speed bumps.
Luckily there was an event on with a small food market, shows and market stalls. It was very sparse to say the least, but pleasant enough.
The grounds around the house are nice enough, with walks through woodland areas and garden areas that could do with a bit of TLC. The house itself is quite nice inside, but we could only venture on the ground floor, apparently they are renovating the upstairs part of the house.
The animal wildlife is something else indeed, and not a good one! I couldn’t believe how overgrown the area is. Loads nettles and shrubs overhanging pathways. The bird enclosures are just as bad. I felt awful going round looking at the enclosures because the vast majority of the birds didn’t seem to have access to suitable drinking water. And on such a hot day as well! If I’m to be honest here, it’s disgusting to witness these enclosures in such conditions. It’s awful to witness.
The park clearly doesn’t tend to these enclosures like it should. The animals have such small enclosures it’s wonder the RSPCA haven’t been involved.
Would I go back? No Would I recommend this?...
