Iāve been coming to Woofing Woods almost every week since Jan 2021, not long after we brought our rescue girl home to join us and our boy šš
We really love it here - itās so much fun. Thereās a huge toy box, agility equipment (hoops, fences, a wooden tunnel, weaves etc), some rocks to clamber up, large cable reels to play on and huge tyres to run through.
Itās also a great safe space for practicing recall, with a smaller separately fenced area within the main 4.5 acre woodland. It has long lines in there which you can use. We used to coax our girl into the smaller area towards the end of our time slot too as it was easier to get her to come back in there - less stuff/ less distracting. Itās definitely useful to be able to practice recall in a woodland setting compared with just plain dog fields, especially if you have a dog with such a high prey drive!
Originally I was aiming to use Woofing Woods as a temporary thing until our girl was trained up, but we just love it so much, we come back every week. I love that we have it to ourselves (or with friends/ family/ dogs of our choosing), I can totally relax without having to worry about distractions, other poorly behaved dogs (of which there are so many about since the lockdown puppy boom!) ⦠and people/ kids haha! Knowing theyāre perfectly safe.
I hugely appreciated how well looked after it is too, itās kept very clean, regularly maintained/ checked and tidied, and new things added to keep things exciting. There are lots of bins dotted about for disposing of poo bags, as well as free poo bags for if youāve forgotten yours. Water and a drinking bowl is also provided. Oh and there are cameras dotted about the woods and the perimeter to monitor it all too.
Jo, who owns the woods, is lovely - she really cares about dogs and wants to provide them with the best experience in a safe place. Sheās super helpful too.
And just to help Jo out⦠thereās loads of info about how it works on the website - also do read the booking email youāre sent as it tells you everything you need to know, including the all important entry code, which changes...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis is the second time we've been to Woofing Woods and both times we have thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, in part due to being successful with our choice of days.
The other reason for the enjoyment is that there is such a HUGE area for your dogs to play in. You could easily be forgiven for thinking that the initial "Car Parking" area is the only area you get for the price but there is another, even bigger, area to the west where there are obstacles, agility toys and fallen logs - words don't justify it, I took a couple of videos of the place to try and show this but wasn't able to add them to this review š© (I have added them separately, please excuse my voice, I have a cold).
If I had to pick any cons to the place it would be that one hour isn't enough, considering you have to be out before your time slot expires. This time we stayed for 90 minutes and I would say that is "just" enough but maybe two hours would be better (but that would maybe be too much for the dogs - they're all sleeping it off now).
There are bins provided for your fluffy ones waste and bags are also provided to clean up so there is no excuse for not doing so.
The seating areas are great, we had a picnic upon arrival and let the dogs explore. There wasn't any bins though (at least, no bins that I thought I could use as dogs could rummage through it). When we were leaving I did spot a wheelie bin but I'd already put everything into our car bin (an old cereal container).
I could easily have come here without the dogs just to relax, it is such a nice place. I'm so glad we're coming back next week š
One last thing, there are no toilets here (I wouldn't necessarily expect there to be) and there are cameras which the owners do check to make sure people aren't climbing on the dog equipment. A Portaloo would be a welcome addition as, due to the location, we're pretty much set to explode by the time...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI took a group of four springer spaniels with me to the Woofing Woods today, and I was just absolutely blown away when I got there! It had been on my to-go list for a while and Iām so glad I finally got around to it. I have been to a lot of dog parks and this is by far my favourite. I will definitely be returning!
The woodlands are fantastic; such a wonderful place for the dogs (and me!) to explore safely. My favourite kind of dog parks are those that are able to be driven into (as opposed to park outside), so that was a massive bonus for me- on top of the secure training unit, plethora of obstacles and equipment, and all the fun little nooks and crannies to find.
I was initially hesitant about being so close to the busy main road, but the dogs didnāt pay any attention to it, and itās easy to forget itās there once you get swept away by the beauty of the place!
The only thing I would say is that for people looking to book, I would recommend at least an hour. Of course, 30 minutes is doable (I did it today) but I know I could have spent a lot longer exploring and enjoying the space- and it works out at better value for money!
Ooh and also forgot to mention, I really appreciated the quick and easy assistance offered to me before my booking took place. I was panicking slightly about getting some help so early in the morning, but my problem was solved perfectly. It was massively...
