If you use Google maps to get here then you will arrive at the Chorley Rd entrance, where there are a couple of lay-bys for parking. It's quite a steep walk up the hill and despite the pylons and the houses and the pylons the place has a real ancient feel to it, almost eerie. It's very quiet with almost no sound of any wildlife, you almost want to whisper. At the top of the hill things get a lot more greener and there are marked paths to explore. Well worth a visit

Looks amazing in the summer. Walks around here take at least half an hour and you get a good view of the surrounding hills, farms and houses. A huge shame about the pylons ruining the view though.

I'm always up here, hiking, taking photographs and walking the dogs. The perimeter is about 32 minutes to walk all the round. Fantastic views! Instagram @jayson_sidney_hindle

Have enjoyed Gentleshaw Common for many years now and as a kid played in the brook, running and jumping around windy peak, watching kestrels hovering, wonderful memories. I still use it. A good few years on now, but It's all still there to appreciate, the calm unchanged landscape, just a pity it's not respected by all who visit ref: litter and dog poo but it's still a wonderful...

A lovely place for an early morning walk. I have a heart condition so I walk here and choose the walk so it's not to strenuous on my heart. Good clean fresh air sets me up for the day. My only criticism and that's not about the common it's about some of the people that go there. DONT THROW YOUR EMPTY DRINKS BOTTLES ON THE GROUND AND PICK UP YOUR DOGS MESS AND PUT IT IN THE...
