Last went to the Redmore with my sister and bro in law last Christmas Eve it was ok but really looking a little tired. Over the last 12 months there has been a few changes of management but in about October the new management/ owners took over and closed it down for a major refurb. Today I went for the first time and wow a very different place. The external appearance of the pub has been painted and looks great. Internal it is has been decorated tastefully to a very high standard. A young lady behind the bar was welcoming friendly and polite. There were only about 10 customers in but again made to feel welcome. We looked at the menu and decide to eat not a huge selection but to fare choice not bad I chose steak and ale butter pastry with chips and peas and my friend bangers and mash cost for the 2 just under £20. I'm not quite sure where the Redmore is pitching itself with food but this is expensive compared with a couple of pubs that are very local the Windmill in particular. The bangers and mash my friend said was good but I can only say my meal was just ok. Both meals were piping hot but my pies pastry was rock hard the filling tasted beautifull and I was disappointed that the chip's were frozen I really would have preferred hand cut proper chip's and half the quantity. I have a couple of suggestions the pub needs more signage externally for food ie home cooked food available all day and secondly have a look at making home cooked food rather than bought in products from wholesalers. I will be going again and I hope the owners look at this as constructed comments not someone just moaning. I do have just 1 moan the toilets whilst immaculately clean are bloody freezing. All the best in...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI feel loathed to ever say anything bad about anything, just wasn't how I was bought up, I'm not a complainer. However the customer service and disrespect I was given did upset me and my friends. Basically I was given food with a hair baked into the pastry. To be clear baked into the pastry, so much so it lifted a large portion of the pastry from the pie. I was, not in so many words called a liar, repeatedly told it was egg wash. We all know egg wash is brittle and would not hold a portion of pastry up. I feel the kitchen told the waitress to come back again and tell me again I was wrong. " It is defiantly not chef's hair, its the wrong colour anyway!" I was offered my cold plate of food back again after if had been inspected, and being told it was not a hair. I said I do not want it back, it's really put me off. Not being offered anything else or a fresh pie ok I understand because I wouldn't of wanted it anyway, but not offering to take the food off the bill! Then when the bill did come we had been overcharged. After an hour of us saying your bill is wrong and us showing how it was wrong, again without an apology we were told the meal deal comes off the cheapest item. Out of the four of us only one had the meal deal so surely the discount should apply to her food and not to the cheapest meal on the bill. To future customers...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe Redmore Inn has significantly improved over the last two years. Their food and service have always been great previously, but unfortunately, today, the food quality was very disappointing. I'm a big red meat eater and know and cook meat very well and must say the chef does not have a clue to properly cook a steak and the beef roast was inedible tough. But also the quality of meat being served was bad. We have looked forward to our an unnual family pre-Chritmas Fayre dinner but was unfortunately spoiled by the poor mains. The staters and deserts were good, and as always, the staff is friendly, helpful, and always smiling. But I can't recommend their festive menu as I just can not justify the cost against the poor quality mains we had tonight.
Update after response from Redmore.
Just to correct the statement by the owner... I only ate half of the second mains that was offered as it was not great as per my original review.
We will definitely not be back...
