This certainly isn't one of the best beaches I've been to. Depending on which route you take through Presthaven Sands to get to the beach it can take 10-15 minutes to walk there through the dunes especially with children and when carrying buckets and spades etc. The actual beach itself was nice to walk on but contained a lot of mud only a short depth under the sand. The only really proper sandy areas were much closer to the dunes and I didn't personally see any real rock pools to search for water life so you may prefer to leave nets at home/the caravan.

Fantastic for walking. My grandson was fascinated with the sand dunes and the lights far away in the distance. It created millions of questions. The only downside was a few irresponsible dog walkers leaving the dogs business and not cleaning up, even though there are signs up.

Great dunes, kids loved messing and exploring in them. The best thing is that it knackers the kids out

It's a long walk but the wooden boardwalk across the dunes helps. The best thing, in the summer months, is the colony of breeding Little Terns, their only regular site anywhere in Wales. These enchanting birds are rare and threatened mostly by inconsiderate people and their dogs, walking along the beach and sometimes into the birds' colony. So instead of adding to the pressures, why not keep your dog on a lead and try visiting the Denbighshire County Council's visitor centre at the end of the boardwalk, talking to the wardens and being shown the delights of these charming...
