Customer service is appalling. Took us 25 minutes to book our activities at the reception, not because of a queue, just because of how slow the staff/system was such that a huge queue had formed so everyone booking in was probably late for their sessions. Our session 2 hours later then got cancelled. They called me, I missed it, they left a pointless voicemail saying to call them back, I called them back and they never responded. As soon as we finished lunch at their café, we walked over half an hour before our session was due to start and they said they'd cancelled it. We wasted nearly 2 hours therefore at the place because they said they cancelled our session a few minutes after we booked. They have no problem with this because we spent money in their café so of course they don't care. They should have left a voicemail saying it was cancelled so that customers don't waste their day. I appreciate things get cancelled due to bad weather however when you cancel it two hours before a session and leave a non-descript voicemail such that it wastes two hours of customers waiting at your site is poor. Also, when we then left there were still SUP boarders out on the water despite sessions behind cancelled for high wind. Attached it also a photo of their 'high' wind speed.

Nice place to come for a walk and look at the view. Cafe was fine, only had drinks but menu looked reasonable and offer a balcony to really take in the views of the reservoir. Beware of the car park as you pay at a pay station, but I thought I had paid via contactless, but when it didn't show on my online banking I decided to pay a second time via their app as I didn't fancy a £100 fine...turns out the first payment hadn't gone through but no indication from the machine that there was an issue. Paid it through the app with same card and no problem. I could have left thinking I had paid, but because I had seen a review with the same issue I went on the side of caution. Glad I did. Trying to contact the car park firm resulted in a msg saying to email them the query so I couldn't check in the first instance whether the payment had gone through the car park machine....apart from that though, the place is worth a visit.

Plenty of parking and the first hour is free, there's even a sign that suggests why not park up and if when you return to your car, if it's been longer than an hour, pay then, I guess as there is only 1 cost of £3. APNR works here so I guess they will fine people for not paying. Payment is via App, or card at a machine or visitor centre. Visitor centre had some lovely food, fair prices, we only had a corn beef pasty today. Water sports centre had a few children doing activities, it all looked good, with kayak hire, paddle board, and much more. We did a walk today. 4 walks are advertised, from 1 hrs all the way to 4 hrs, if you want to walk around the entire reservoir 6 miles or 10Km if you fancy it, we did the red 4 miles north walk and back today. Good paths around the place, will definitely go again for the walk around the reservoir.

I’d booked a boat for a friend and I to do a day of fly fishing in your beautiful lake. The weather wasn’t very good, but we overlooked that for the opportunity of catching some trout. A few friends had told us separately that we are wasting our time, as there are very few trout in the lake, as it isn’t very well stocked. We thought we’d try it for ourselves, and not listen to hearsay. We didn’t see anything, we didn’t have a tug on the lines, or even see a fish rise to catch the abundance of flies that were hatching and flitting around the surface. We spoke to one of your friendly and very helpful park rangers (Philippa) whose enthusiasm and knowledge saved what would have otherwise been a tragic outing. She lifted our saturated and deflated spirits, and reassured us that we weren’t useless. She had advised us when we arrived about the breakfast on offer, which was really good. The facilities seem state of the art, and the activities she said that were on offer seemed quite appealing, but unfortunately, we were there to fish trout, which it seems, you don’t have. It’s a real shame, as the location is perfect for us. I travelled from Bristol, and my friend from New Tredegar. We would normally go further afield to places like Clywedog, where they stock trout in the lake specifically for the many guys like us, who fish for fun, and for the table. We had a good time at your facility, but it could have been so much better had we seen even just one fish, just to give us hope, but alas it...

It's changed a lot since my last visit as an angler with members of the public sat on the bank side some 30 metres away from us when that area is supposed to be only for the anglers. Fishing on the day was difficult with no fish taken, no takes at all including on the worm which is now allowed on the East bank and the boat anglers were also blanking. The weather conditions could have played a part in the lack of interest from the trout being bright and sunny and the water is going down quickly and none being pumped in at the inlet as I believe they are working on the pipes. It also didn't help that the fishing times are between 9am and 5pm so you are missing the chance of fishing the morning and evening rise. In a nutshell, its a wonderful place to spend the day if you are walking around but I don't think we will be going back to fish until at least the fishing times are extended to make the most of the morning and evening rise and fresh water being pumped back in will only be a bonus. It would probably have been better for the price of angling to be reduced whilst under these time limits and maybe charge extra if you...
