We came for a quick look and stayed all day! What an amazing magical space. And the essence of the man who looks after the area pervades and is part of the charm. We were met in the car park by a man selling home made chocolate....both him and the chocolate looked ready to melt but we bought some and it was delicious. We had lunch in the garden of the cafe in full view of the falls...the blurb says they're higher than Niagara and the biggest in Britain. Mesmerising! We walked down stream and planned to cross it at some point to come upon the falls from the other side...we could see people on the other side...don't try this. There isn't a path to follow. It was however an adventure and lovely away from all the people gathered to look at the falls. And when we were right up and under the falls and playing in the rock pools beneath...I had come prepared with my bathing suit....it wouldn't have mattered how many people there were. The force of the water and the noise dominates. All my senses were wired to attune with the falls and we all were aware of how insignificant a part of nature we are. A gorgeous touch to our time there was this very beautiful Indian lady in her full sari of gold and orange and somehow her new husband and his friends had got her positioned precariously on a rock in the middle of the pool with the falls as a backdrop....no.I am not making it up....and with their highly professional looking kit were taking photos of her. And later he joined her ..( this is only a very small rock and he is juggling between looking relaxed and in love and cool for his photos and in between trying not to fall off the rock into the water!. From here we set off on the path to the top of the falls...VERY steep! There is a gentler alternative but still a strenuous climb...well worth it though. I was glad to get a greater understanding of the terrain and surprised to see how little water there is feeding such a waterfall? People were standing on the very edge looking over...one slip and they would be dead!no handrails or notices of any kind. Do take care...
Read moreAbsolutely recommended! It has everything that a nature admirer needs. When you park your vehicle, there are two paths that you can take. The easier abd the shorter one takes you where the water fall ends, and man, is it beautiful or what! Plenty of places to sit near the fall and enjoy its splendour. Kids can enjoy in the pool, which is certainly not deep for kids above 4. The other path takes you to the "base of water fall", although I got confused as to which part is the base. Anyways, take this path if you love trekking. Quite steep, rocky, and offers breathtaking sights of the mountains around. About 30 minutes of trekking will take you to the base where you can enjoy the source. The precipice is amazibg, but scary. Don't go too much near the edge! The road the waterfall is great, but the last 6 miles or so is too narrow for 60mph. So drive very carefully. 2 crossing vehicles will have to really slow down. This road is also quite bendy, so passengers might get nauseated. Paid parking for £5,right next to the fall. Free parking about 7 minutes walk from the waterfall, but you will have to be lucky to get a...
Read moreAbsolutely beautiful waterfall - only a brief walk from the carpark. But please be vigilant, especially if you plan on taking young children and heading to the top of the waterfall. My husband and I are keen hikers, we walk every weekend, so not amateurs by any means - we decided to walk to the top, where he led us across what just looked like abit of boggy grass (bearing in mind, we hadn't had any rain for weeks by this point!) as the path had disappeared - anyway, to cut a story short - he lost a shoe....and very nearly almost lost his wife in the sinking mud 🤣. I literally sunk to my waist in mud and if it wasn't for a big rock infront of me which I used to stop myself with my arms, I genuinely don't think I would've made it back up as even when i was sunk, there was nothing under my feet!! Whilst we can laugh about it now, I'm highly traumatised 🤦🏽♀️🤣...if this had happened to a young child, I dread to think of the outcome. There was no signage to warn of this mud or how dangerous it is. My husband is lucky he only left a shoe up there 🤣.
Other than this, it's stunning and well...
