Now, as you drive through Skinningrove you could easily turn round and drive to Runswick Bay where its famous golden sands and its surviving thatched fisherman’s cottage tick all the Cleveland tourist boxes.. but hold out. For beyond the Moonfleet Guest house, you will find a tidy, quiet and approachable inlet and beach. If you follow the path north and through what can only have been a railway arch in times past you will find an expansive beach with no frills beyond the views to enjoy and towering headland above you. It is a sizeable beach with many a doggo to be found enjoying the space and tranquility that is only broken by the wind from the North Sea.

The water is crystal clear and shallow for a long way out so great for paddling. There are some toilets a short walk but otherwise unspoilt with no arcades or attractions or noise. I almost didn’t want to leave a review in case more people start visiting it, but trust me, this is a great beach and you need to spend a day here soaking up the sun, sea,...
