HONEST AND DETAILED REVIEW.
WASP ATTACK,
if your visiting outside the months of JUNE & JULY, expect to be overwhelmed by swarms of wasps*
A trip organised by a friend for my birthday became something we all very quickly regretted.
Upon arrival I was amazed by the breath taking views and wonderful fragrance of Lavander blowing in the winds. After paying the entrance fee, myself, a friend and my 9year old daughter headed to order some Lavander infused food and drinks. The pork alternative was sold out and considering the large Arab Muslim clientele I was surprised. I was offered a toastie alternative, which was not particularly attractive. I ordered; Two lavender scones with butter, clotted cream and jam. One Lavender infused lemonade.
The scones were served cold, the texture was incredibly dry overall not resembling that of freshly prepared scones. Served with a strawberry jam and I felt it was possible a variety of jams would have been much appreciated by more then just myself.
When cutting into my scone I found a long hair hanging out the bottom of my scone, the hair was lodged right through the whole scone, upon complaint I was offered a replacement and no apologies made. I was not surprised as I did not see anyone wearing hair nets.
While sitting in the eating area, everyone was constantly fighting off wasps and once one had arrived at your table a tribe of wasps would attack. Attempting to get wasps of your scones or out of your drinks made them angry and made my daughter cry out of fear of getting stung. Myself and my birthday group was overwhelmed and tried to leave the eating space while still carrying our uneaten scones, the swarm of wasps followed and I threw my scones in the bin absolutely petrified.
After this I went to use the toilet, I was a little disappointed that portable toilets was the only available facilities for customers.
Toilets was as we can expect for portable toilets, unbearable stench and out of toilet roll.
AFTER FEELING COMPLETELY DISSATISFIED I DECIDED I NEEDED TO SHARE MY EXPERIENCE WITH THE MANAGER.
I asked a member of staff to speak with the manager, a lady was pointed out to me and I waited until she had finished with another customer to share my feelings. Before I could finish talking, I was told we’ve been having this problem for the last 3 weeks, the wasps were attacking the bees nests and that they had discovered a number of wasps nest near the eating area. I am British born of mixed heritage, I was asked if I lived in this country, if I had ever had a picnic outside and followed by more questions/statements I found rather reflective. I was also told since it was an organic establishment there was nothing they could do to protect visitors despite being told of wasps traps that had been set out earlier that day. I suggested, was it not possible to add netting to the existing gazebos covering the benches and tables. I felt this to be extremely hazardous and exposing visitors to potentially being followed and stung by swarms of wasps. The response was that it was not possible to add nets to the gazebos and I was offered a refund of £6.50p.
I could sense that my advice and feelings about my experience was not of any interest, so I left.
Although I understand that there are something’s that exist in our universe humans just can’t prevent and as imperfect beings things can go wrong. I am open to that and I am even more open to organisations willing to listen, understand and be able to accommodate to health and safety of the public.
Personally I feel the farm should have been closed to public especially since wasps nest had been discovered in the eating area and swarms of wasps attacking the food and customers had been...

Stepping into the lavender fields of Mayfield felt like entering a dreamy, fragrant oasis. Nestled away from the hustle and bustle of city life, this serene haven provided a sensory experience like no other. Here's a review of my enchanting visit to the lavender fields in Mayfield.
Lavender Beauty: Walking through the rows of vibrant lavender bushes was a visual treat. The sight of endless waves of purple blooms against the backdrop of clear blue skies created a picturesque scene straight out of a postcard. The meticulous organization of the rows showcased the dedication that goes into maintaining these fields.
Aromatic Delight: The sweet and soothing aroma that enveloped the entire area was simply magical. Every breath was a reminder of nature's beauty and the calming effects of lavender. The scent not only lifted my spirits but also created a tranquil atmosphere that allowed me to unwind and escape from everyday stresses.
Photographer's Paradise: For photography enthusiasts, the lavender fields in Mayfield are a dream come true. The contrasting colors of the lavender and the sky, along with the opportunity to capture candid moments of fellow visitors, made for stunning photographs that I'll cherish forever.
Relaxing Stroll: The winding paths between the lavender rows invited leisurely strolls. It was a pleasure to meander through the fields, feeling the soft breeze against my skin and listening to the gentle hum of bees as they diligently collected nectar. The experience was both invigorating and calming.
Family-Friendly Atmosphere: The lavender fields catered to visitors of all ages. Families with children, couples on romantic outings, and solo explorers like myself all found something to enjoy. The open space allowed kids to run around and explore, making it an ideal destination for a family day out.
Culinary Delights: The highlight of my visit was the charming café nestled within the lavender fields. The café offered delightful lavender-flavored lemonade and muffins, creating a culinary symphony that perfectly complemented the lavender theme. It was a delightful experience to savor these treats while surrounded by the natural beauty of the fields.

Read moreA Beautiful and Relaxing Lavender Experience – My 3rd Visit
This is my third year visiting this stunning lavender field, and it continues to be one of my favorite summer getaways. The scenery is absolutely breathtaking — endless rows of vibrant lavender create a picture-perfect landscape, with a calming scent that makes the whole experience feel like a peaceful escape.
The staff are always welcoming and friendly, and the on-site shop offers a lovely selection of high-quality lavender products. I happily spent over £70 on items this time, and the quality never disappoints. There’s convenient parking, ample space to take photos, and no pressure to rush — you can stay and enjoy the surroundings at your leisure, which I really appreciate.
One small note I feel is worth mentioning, not as a complaint but as a suggestion for consideration: I understand the need for a "no picnic" policy, especially to keep the area clean and accessible for all visitors. However, I did witness a situation that felt a bit unclear. A guest sitting at a table with drinks purchased from the shop was told that no picnics were allowed, even though he only had a small snack from home. I had brought a few strawberries for my children (as kids can be particular and not always fans of lavender-flavored foods), but after that interaction, I felt unsure and uncomfortable offering them a simple snack.
Given that many of us travel long distances to visit — in my case, a two-hour journey each way — it might be helpful to clarify or slightly ease the policy, especially when it comes to families with young children eating discreetly at the designated seating areas. Allowing small, reasonable snacks at the tables (not in the fields) could enhance the family-friendly atmosphere without detracting from the experience or affecting product sales.
Overall, it was a wonderful visit as always, and I’m looking forward to coming back again next year. Thank you for creating such a beautiful place for us to enjoy nature and the magic...
