If you've ever seen Tim Hunkin's Channel 4 show 'The Secret Life of Machines' & the corresponding 'Secret Life Of The Home' the Science Museum or visited the 'Under The Pier Show' at Southwold, you'll be familiar with his quirky & entertaining fusion of old arcade machines, hand-carved moving figures & electronic workings that produce this unique set of slot machines. Excellent fun for all ages, buy a bucket of tokens & spend an hour or two enjoying the humour and surprise of the different games. New machines are added regularly but include ones like: have a comfy holiday from your armchair with the Microbreak; try to defuse a your own My Nuke - Personal Nuclear Reactor; undergo an Alien Probe; watch the warring couple Divorce; visit a Chiropodist; get Autofrisked; see an Instant Eclipse; play cycle-powered Pong; Test Your Nerve with a scary guard dog and interact with many more! Once a month or so they do a late-evening opening, where you can meet after work for drinks & play the machines. Occasionally Tim Hunkin visits from Suffolk to give a talk on how he built one of the machines & open it up so you can view the intricate inner workings - well worth it if you get the chance! If you look up his website there are articles & videos explaining more background on how he's made these & other machines, plus a smattering of his cartoons & other works.Highly...

Small vintage arcade store with all sorts of funky games. Each game requires tokens which you can get from the counter (£5 for 5, £9 for 10 etc)

Got 5 tokens which me and my friend spent over 3 games - “Divorce” (2 tokens) which requires two people rolling these handles in opposite directions as fast as possible to see who get the better half of the deal ; “Celeb” (2 tokens) which one controls this drone to search for 3 random celebrities around this mansion and take some exclusive photoshoots before the police arrives, it’s a pretty entertaining game seeing all the secrets the celebrities hide and I managed to find all 3 within the 4 minutes limit too; and lastly the “Pet or Meat” game (1 token) which is simply a lucky spin game which one spin to decide the fate of the poor lamb, and the ending is really fun to watch too!

I can see there are lots more to play which one can easily spend some great time trying out each one of them, including a seemingly scary Photo Booth which I kept hearing people...

Great place to spend a few fun hours.

Whether you are a fan of Tim Hunkin or not, it’s a great place to see some truly wonderful, handmade entertainment machines.

As a fan of the late 1980s series ‘The secret life of machines’ this was a place I wanted to visit for many a year.

It did not disappoint, and I must give credit to the guy the front desk as well:

As some machines are two players, he told me to go and grab him and he will play with me as the two player person. (we played Pong (on exercise cycles controlling the bats (obviously)).

£27 to purchase tokens to play all the machines. It’s not that cheap, but all the effort and time that’s gone into marking them, it it’s gotta be worth it.

But you can buy less tokens for less money, if only a couple of machines, take your fancy.

It’s probably worth taking a minute to look at the machine and read the instructions before putting...
