I recently had the pleasure of dining at My Old Dutch Restaurant in London, and it was a delightful experience from start to finish. This charming eatery specializes in Dutch pancakes, and I couldn't wait to try their offerings.

For my meal, I ordered the Egg Florentine and the Original Pancake with strawberries and berries, and both dishes exceeded my expectations. Let's start with the Egg Florentine. The dish featured perfectly poached eggs sitting atop a bed of sautéed spinach, nestled on a deliciously fluffy pancake. The combination of the runny egg yolk, savory spinach, and the pancake's light texture created a harmonious blend of flavors. It was a delightful twist on a classic brunch favorite.

Next, the Original Pancake with strawberries and berries. This pancake was an absolute treat. Upon arrival, it was beautifully presented, adorned with a generous portion of fresh strawberries and berries. The pancake itself was thin and delicate, with a slightly crispy edge and a soft, melt-in-your-mouth center. The sweetness of the strawberries and berries perfectly complemented the pancake, creating a burst of fruity goodness with each bite. It was a symphony of flavors and textures that left me craving more.

The service at My Old Dutch Restaurant was impeccable. The staff was attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu. They provided excellent recommendations and ensured that my dining experience was nothing short of exceptional. The atmosphere was cozy and welcoming, making it an ideal spot for a relaxed and enjoyable meal.

One aspect that sets My Old Dutch Restaurant apart is its commitment to quality ingredients. The freshness of the eggs, the vibrant flavors of the fruits, and the craftsmanship evident in the pancakes all showcased the restaurant's dedication to providing a memorable culinary experience.

Moreover, the prices at My Old Dutch Restaurant were reasonable, considering the generous portions and the high-quality ingredients. It's a place where you can indulge in delicious food without breaking the bank.

In conclusion, I highly recommend My Old Dutch Restaurant to anyone in London seeking a delightful pancake experience. Whether you're in the mood for a savory delight like the Egg Florentine or a sweet sensation like the Original Pancake with strawberries and berries, you're in for a treat. With its delicious food, attentive service, and inviting atmosphere, My Old Dutch Restaurant is a must-visit for pancake enthusiasts and food...

Awesome food. Let down by really bad service.

So where to start. Food or service.

Being seated. There were two of us on a Friday at 7.40. The place looks busy from the outside with almost all the tables upstairs full. After being asked to wait outside for 5 minutes we were escorted downstairs and sat near the door that leads to the toilets. Not within distance for the toilets to effect us but a draft coming through effected the enjoyment. I asked if we could have one of the other bigger tables to be told that these were reserved for other guests. And as you guessed these tables remained empty for the entirety of our visit.

The food We decided to opt for a savoury pancake to start and share and thought the Best place to start with the restaurants signature pancake. Not only were the three tables near us, who came after us served before us. When the pancake arrived the topping was uneven and had burnt sides and ripped in two sections of the base. Wasn’t sure what to make of it as this point. But flavour wise this was on point and we enjoyed every bite.

So happy with the first we decided we needed to have a sweet pancake. We chose the Nutella with ice cream. Came out a bit quicker than the savoury but still felt like ages. I asked the waiter if they could cut the pancake in half and serve this on two smaller plates. To which I got a bit of a blunt no we can’t to that. Which is fine I appreciate that the chef wants it to look like it should. That said I would have hoped the waiter may have used some initiative to bring out a second plate. No such luck. And when I asked for one he gave me a dirty plate.

This pancake looked the part perfectly cooked and dressed. The guys next to us are looking over and saying it looks good and it delivered every bit on taste. (I could eat another just thinking about it)

Back to the poor service. Other points we asked for water in between courses which never arrived , the waiter didn’t ask if we wanted drinks when we placed our order or if we needed a refill after. Finally never did we get asked if everything was ok. So I’m left with the dilemma do I go back for great food and hope I might get better service. ??

As we left the restaurant I spoke to the manager who kindly offered us a voucher for a free pancake if we come back.. I will take him up on this and write a...

I had a very poor experience here. Being a black male, I felt there was strong Inequality/ Unconscious bias/ Racial discrimination within the service from the staff (two men of Italian heritage). I observed them Deliver very attentive service to the table behind me consistently.

Service was poor quality, I had to collect my own menu after waiting 5 Mins at the table. I had two used cups on the table, and I asked for new ones and the body Language/response was unhappy/Negative from the waiter.

Initially, I waited 10-15 Mins, patiently to be seated and this was absolutely fine. Service was fine up to this point from the staff.

As I ordered, the waiter was unfriendly when I asked two questions; I felt silly to even ask a question.

My food arrived much later and after the table behind me, despite being seated and ordering before this table. Food was very basic and plain tasting. My order was also incorrect.

The waiter/staff never check in with me to see how the meal was even though items were missing from our orders.

I asked for the Bill following this, which took a long time to arrive, I watched the waiter serve others and wait around the restaurant before eventually bringing over the bill.

Overall, I am very disappointed and let down by this restaurant. I was looking forward to this visit/Food for some time.

I would strongly advice others not to go

In response to your message:

I am again disappointed by your establishment.

You have really invalided our experience, the tone of your reply is also disturbing.

If I look at other reviews, as you have asked, will my experience change ?

I am well within my right to leave a second review, this was a combined experience.

But, I am not surprised by this reply you have given, this has helped me to see how systemic your biases are and ignorance.

As we found with the service and food you provided - poor...
