Polish War Memorial was erected by the London Borough of Hillingdon in 1948 to commemorate the contribution of airmen from Poland who aided the allies in the Second World War. It records the names of the 1,241 Polish people who died in operational sorties during the course of the war. The monument is made partly of Portland stone and polish granite comprising large stone obelisk with bronze eagle (symbol of the Polish Air Force) on top and bronze lettering text surrounded by low stone walls bearing names.
A Remembrance Garden was created in the field adjacent to the memorial in 2015 to mark the 75th anniversary of the Battle of Britain. It was officially opened by the representatives from Hillingdon Council, the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in London, the Polish Air Force Memorial Committee and RAF Northolt. The garden was designed and created by Hillingdon with a contribution from the Polish Embassy.
The Memorial is situated besides the A40/A4180 roundabout near RAF Northolt, West End Road, South Ruislip, HA5 6QX and well connected by public transport (bus). Pedestrian access to the memorial is available via slip road off West End Road.
The memorial and the garden are well maintained and visits are free of charge. Please note that there is however no shelter for bad weather conditions or public convenience facility at...

Informative plaques provided context without delving too deeply into history. The heartfelt atmosphere was evident, with visitors expressing respect and gratitude. It's a hidden gem that offers a peaceful respite from the city's chaos. I highly recommend this beautiful memorial to anyone interested in history or seeking a moment...
