Always enjoy the park whatever the weather once the jewel in merton's crown but has suffered neglect . It's a shame some of the recent history of the park has not been documented either by plaques or signs . The boating late in the early 70s with wooden numbered pedal boats existing in a age where safety didn't stifle fun and adventure .The paddling pool or miniature Lido and not forgetting the brick built kiosk offering refreshments, slabs of walls ice cream crammed in between wafers during the 76 scorcher . It's all been lost only existing in some of our childhood memories.

Very nice park though the pavements needs to be resurfaced. People taking their dogs for walk pleasant place. A disappointed with the cafe which did not take debit card and an odd couple giving me a hostile look at me as I was on my own, apart from them wonderful park ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿž๏ธ

Great playground and well taken care of park. There is also a small cafe nearby to have lunch, otherwise highly recommend this park for a picnic. There is a nice stream running through with lots of birds and fish and some historic artifacts like the water wheel.

There was a Swan There that made a Snorting Sound! Maybe thats the sound it makes as it was the First time for me to Hear One! :) Also There was a Coot that was taking the Bread i was feeding it, back to its nest which was a way off, to feed its young. It was So Lovely to see. :-)

๐ŸšจUPDATE:4/6/22-I NO LONGER FEED BREAD TO BIRDS AND ESPECIALLY WATERFOWL, AS IT IS 'EXTREMELY' BAD FOR THEIR HEALTH!!!

๐Ÿšจ๐ŸšจNOT ONLY DOES IT MAKE THEM 'FEEL' FULL WITHOUT GIVING THEM THE 'NECESSARY' NUTRIENTS THEY NEED AND STOPS THEM FORAGING FOR THEIR 'NATURAL' FOODS.

๐Ÿšจ๐Ÿšจ๐ŸšจIT ALSO CAN CAUSE' ANGEL WING' DISEASE THAT CAUSES THEIR WINGS TO BE DEFORMED AND HINDERED FROM GROWING PROPERLY LEADING TO THEM NOT BEING ABLE TO FLY! ๐Ÿ˜ฆโ˜น๏ธ๐Ÿ˜ข๐Ÿ‘Ž๐Ÿ‘Ž๐Ÿ‘Ž

๐ŸŒŸSOME 'MUCH BETTER' ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ™‚๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜„ 'SUITABLE' FOODS TO FEED THEM ARE:

๐Ÿ‘ BIRDSEED, PREFERABLY WITHOUT SOYA OIL.

๐Ÿ‘ 'PLAIN' (NOT WITH ANYTHING ELSE ADDED LIKE HONEY) CEREAL PUFFS LIKE WHEAT AND SPELT. THEY MAKE VERY GOOD 'FLOATING' FOOD AND I PREFER THEM OVER THE 'SPECIALLY FORMULATED' FLOATING PELLETS, AS THEY DON'T CONTAIN SOYA OIL/AND/OR SOYA.๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

๐Ÿ‘'KIBBLED' CORN/MAIZE. NOT 'WHOLE' THAT CAN CAUSE CHOKING ESPECIALLY FOR THE YOUNG WATERFOWL LIKE...

Covid review- went here a few days ago. Nice park, not busy, everyone kept to 2m on the grass areas. On the paths down towards the river itโ€™s hard to keep the distance. River is accessible and had a pebble bottom but wouldnโ€™t suggest going in it as it has a current and swarming with flies (can see this when the sun shines) has a lovely childrenโ€™s playground and an outdoor gym. Both not in use due to restrictions. Park cafe is open for takeaway only but doesnโ€™t sell ice cream. There is outdoor seating provided by the cafe. Parking is available on the main road...
