The building (outside and inside) including the yard need some renovation. It looks quite worn down, gray and demotivating.

Having walked into the pub instantly you can tell that someone lives there and treats it as a home rather than a professional customer-orientated place. I think you cannot have a home and business in a single place - it just doesn’t work.

Everything is quite outdated and selection of drinks is very modest with just 3 or 5 to choose from.

I have found the customer service a bit unpleasant as apart from waiting for a while for someone to serve me in an empty pub, I got the looks when asked if I can try an ale I have not seen before. I have been told it’s weird of me asking and they are not supposed to, but as an exception I could try a sip.

The pub’s location is good and the potential this place has is also substantial in my opinion. Just a revamp can already make a noticeable difference. Well, all the best !

I only went for a surprise birthday party for my friend, who hired out the left side of the hall, so my input on the pub as a hole is rather limited. Although the staff are lovely, it took a very long time and several attempts on multiple occasions to get their attention, even though they were passing me by filling up dishwashers and getting ready to close down the night, which seem to be of more important than serving drinks . Which I could understand because I have worked in pubs myself, but from a customer perspective this isn’t good.

They have a big garden in the back which is quite nice and Corey , but it doesn’t have any heaters so it can be very cold.

My biggest worry was the floor in that room felt like it was going to collapse at any moment when people were dancing on it .

It is a little bit pricey, but no more than you would expect nowadays from a private pub rather than a typical Wetherspoons or a chain company- cost me around ÂŁ50 for 3 yager bombs...

Would give this pub zero stars if I could. What an awful place to be. Left after about 15 minutes and happy to explain why.

After about 5 minutes or so some loud-mouthed moronic woman walked in swearing and borderline shouting her conversation...in front of a child of about 5. No-one in the pub, nor the manager/server said a word.

About 5 minutes later a man walked in, swearing, shouting, making threats of violence towards everyone in the pub, that he'd petrol bomb it, burn it to the ground, do everyone in there, etc, etc, etc.

Again the manager/server said nothing.

From this visit I'd say avoid this pub like the plague unless you're a scumbag. We walked out in disgust and what I was listening to was making me angry.

Management...if someone is making severe threats in your pub, kick them out, call the Police and ban them for life.

Fortunately I live very far from this pub and will never be in the area again, because if the area has clientele like...

The Mitcham History Notes website says that this building, in the style of ‘mock Tudor’, was constructed around 1930, replacing an older building. It is the only remaining ‘arms’ pub in Mitcham that still displays a coat of arms. These Arms were in use by Surrey County Council, from 8th August 1934, and were replaced on September 20, 1974. The description or ‘blazon’ of these arms is: Per pale Azure and Sable a Fess per pale Ermine and Or in chief a representation of the Crown of King Edgar proper and a Sprig of Oak fructed Argent. Recently the signs were replaced, but the design was kept. Inside the pub, it is spotlessly clean. In fact, the bartender jokingly admitted to us that she had OCD, and wanted to continue to keep it all clean. In this hot weather, the door was open and, as the pub is next to Morden Hall Park, some leaves from the horse chestnut trees were blown into the pub. She quickly swept them up. Pint of Fosters lager was £4.40.

I can't comment on the food as we out sourced the food. I hired out the function room for my husbands 30th recently, (had come recommended) and the Surrey arms team did not disappoint! The staff were attentive and helpful throughout the night, and leading up when I had questions. I can't remember the name of the 2 ladies on shift that evening, (Friday 20th oct) but I want to say a huge thank you! My husband had the best night, and everyone commented on what a great venue it is!! I think one of the ladies that work there is Beth? She was able to help out while we decorated on the Friday afternoon, and she was always there to answer any questions also leading up to the party! I can't recommend this venue enough. Their DJ is great too! Thank you surrey arms for such a great night!

We held our wedding in the function room, Karen provided the chair covers and bows. She answered any questions and helped with anything I needed doing. The bar staff were fantastic and all the locals were friendly and made us all feel welcome. We had our own toilets and garden so it was a private party with no distractions if this is what you prefer. In the morning they packed everything up for us which was great. We believe they went above 5* and highly recommend them. The only down fall we were worried about may have been there was no carpark. please don’t let this put you off, all our guests travelled from far and everyone managed to find somewhere. So this wasn’t a problem on the night.
