Not the sort of place you come for that spoon-fed London park experience - queuing for ice cream, manicured lawns, a well stocked shop, disposable BBQs, clearly marked sign posting (though there is adequate) and maybe a duck or two. The beauty of this park is that it is a little wilder, a little more natural - so many different species of bird, a large lake, tall bull rushes, varying scenery, enclosed paths, each season markedly different - you can sometimes walk here and forget you’re in London (until the next 747 rumbles overhead). Early mornings or late afternoons are best when it’s a little emptier but anytime of day this park is a nice alternative to other London parks.

Although the majority of the park's look and feel is akin to a recently covered over landfill site, the wetland and wildflower meadow makes for interesting exploring, especially when searing for crime scenes or corpses. The play area is a particular highlight although we were disappointed to find the 18 hole pitch an putt closed for the winter. We are looking forward to another trip in the summer and have put our names down for club membership. My recommendation would be to visit during the summer months and stick to the designated footpaths to avoid spoiling your shoes.

A good wild park. Don't expect green fields with trees and benches, this is a wet land. There are a couple of fields, but the rest is wild with good tracks and paths throughout. Great for cycling, fine for buggies, lovely for dog waking. Access is easy via car park, foot or tram stops. There is a children's play area which caters for tots up to teens. Alongside a simple cafe for tea and coffee and toilets, which aren't open all year around, so don't count on being able to pop in! In autumn/ winter the whole park and play area are quiet.

This a beautiful place to visit & escape the Hussle n bussle when you need some headspace. This historical conservation area is an oasis to relieve any stresses & connect with nature. Even if it's 10 mins or a couple of hours or more. Fantastic for people of all ages. Especially the kids of course. Lots of little paths away from the main paths. Plenty of dog walker's, cyclist's, bird watcher's etc. Great for family picnic's or to sit & read a book on a warm day. Can get a bit boggy after rainfall. Although the puddles have improved when the pathways were filled in. There's a well used play ground. The lake is great with 3 jetties to sit & feed/ watch the ducks/ geese/swans / even a terrapin if you're lucky....they love to sunbath on the logs or in the bushes near the water. It's worth looking into the history of this park it's extremely interesting indeed. There's a website you can visit. They do bat walks & a like. You can volunteer to help clear, clean & tidy up which is a great way to get involved. I will upload some photos I've taken in due course. Highly recommended...

This park is absolutely lovely. It is a hidden London gem and labor of love for the volunteers that care for it. In the last year even more areas have been cleared in the park and there are more places to discover.

The Park can appear as one jungle but it is a fantastic place to find a little urban hide away for a picnic! There are many covered areas or hidden areas with open spaces that you can have a picnic in. There is also a play park for the children and a golf course.

This is such a dog friendly park too with in the main really friendly people taking their dogs for a walk. Possibly not as friendly as the common in Streatham where they all meet up or know each other well but friendly enough for a passing nod.

I have given lower stars because definitely more could be made of the park. It needs facilities like lavatories and maybe a couple of cafes. The land could be used better with a few mini craft fairs or something. There is a car park though right next to the play park which is a bonus if you have kids or are carting around...

Dog walkers multiple times a day (yet pretty poo free). Children’s play areas, one for bigger (or braver) kids, the other for younger. Random groups of people seem to be ‘Doing Things’. Lots of bikes. One lake, one stream, one pond (or huge puddle). One very random collection of shopping trolleys behind barbed wire. Having been round here with a running group I can say that all the small bumps add up to make A Huge Mound. It is unbelievably easy to get lost in this small area due to the bumps and hills and fences and streams. It’s actually a labyrinth. It is however, not the countryside. It has tram stops at three corners and a main road on the other side. There are newsagents, a leisure centre and a train station. And it has all the problems of an unlit area in South East London, with hillocks and hedges and dark paths. But hey. You won’t go 2 minutes without seeing a dog walker. If you want to go at night, let us know...
