🚇 Norwood Junction 🍺 £5.30 Heineken A Friendly South Norwood Local. The Albert Tavern is located in a quiet side street in South Norwood close to South Norwood Country Park. The nearest station is Norwood Junction, it’s about a ten minute walk to get here. The Albert Tavern was originally built in 1867. During WWII, German Bombers destroyed the pub, it was eventually rebuilt in the 1960's with an estate pub look and feel. This is a traditionally decorated one bar pub that has a modern feel to it. The servery is long and stretches down the length of the bar. There is plenty of seating with a mixture of poser tables, booths and banquettes around sturdy tables. Adorning the walls are a collection of prints and photos of the area in times gone by. This pub has a pool table, dartboard, a few large screens and not forgetting a proper pub carpet. At the rear of the pub is a beer garden for the warmer months. The beer line up was solid and offers a selection of mainstream beers plus two cask ales. I decided on a Heineken, my pint hit the spot and pleasingly cost just over a fiver. There is a traditional pub grub food menu available, Fish & Chips is reasonably priced at £11.99. I visited on an overcast Saturday afternoon in January. The pub was fairly busy with a local crowd of all ages. The atmosphere was chilled and relaxed with half the punters watching the Chelsea v Fulham game and the other half dotted around the pub enjoying a catch up with friends and family. I had a quick chat with the Guv’nor who was clearly passionate about his pub. The service was excellent, the lady who served me was friendly and courteous. This pub hosts Karaoke and Live music nights and also shows all live sports including Premier league. From the outside the @alberttavernse25 may look a bit unappealing but step inside and you’ll find a cosy local pub with a friendly atmosphere. The beer selection is solid and the food is favourably priced. There’s plenty to keep you entertained and you’ll be well looked after. I thoroughly enjoyed my visit here, never judge a book by its cover. ℹ️ Info correct on visiting 13.01.24

The Albert Tavern The Albert Tavern is a gem of a pub, perfect for both casual visitors and sports enthusiasts alike. The first thing that strikes you is how well-kept and clean the place is. From the moment you walk in, the staff greets you with a warm and polite attitude, making you feel right at home. The pub boasts a great selection of beers, ciders, and lagers, so there's something for every taste. They even serve coffee for those who might not be in the mood for alcohol. The menu is solid, offering plenty of choices to accompany your drinks. For sports lovers, this place is ideal. There's always a game on, and they even have a pool table if you're in the mood for a friendly competition. I was also impressed by the cleanliness of the toilets, which isn’t something you can say about every pub. All in all, The Albert Tavern is a fantastic spot to unwind, catch a game, and enjoy a good drink. Highly recommended!

Couldn’t really ask for a better local. The staff and patrons are always friendly, the prices are good, the ale is fresh and the atmosphere is comfy as hell. Always got the sports on too (and enough screens to make a man envious); perfect place for a drink with family or friends, or a solo outing to watch the football. Top notch!

I will not be using this pub again . such a shame bout time they got decent management that know how to run a pub properly . what a shame Green king . very well respected company I had the pleasure of working worth in the past ....
