Oh, you've hit the jackpot with that lunch! Let me paint a picture of this delightful experience. From the first bite to the last sip, it sounds like pure bliss. Imagine sinking your teeth into perfectly cooked eggs, their richness complemented by the salty, savory crunch of bacon and the juicy burst of flavor from those sausages. That combination alone is a classic for a reason, a symphony of textures and tastes that just works. But then you elevate it with a steaming mug of hot chocolate, not just any hot chocolate, but one generously topped with velvety cream and those little pockets of sugary joy – marshmallows. It's the perfect warm hug on a plate and in a cup, a sweet counterpoint to the savory goodness. And to top it all off, you mention the staff being "super personal." That's the secret ingredient that elevates a good meal to a truly memorable experience. Feeling welcomed and cared for by the people serving you makes everything taste even better. It sounds like this wasn't just a lunch; it was a little moment of warmth and connection in your day. Honestly, that sounds like the kind of lunch that leaves you feeling completely satisfied and with a smile on your face. Where was this little slice of heaven? I'm almost tempted to hop on a train to...
Read moreThe area itself is lovely to walk round, and the cafe area is nice to sit in, nice atmosphere...didn't find the lady on the desk overly enthusiastic, but never mind!
We actually went here exclusively for the Zog Trail with the kids, so I can't knock the scenery or walk itself, it was just an extremely disappointing experience doing the actual Zog trail.
There are gruffalo trails with carved animal figures from the stories, which the kids loved. The zog trail is all on your phone app, which didn't seem to work particularly well. There's nothing tangible for the kids to get excited about, and staring at your phone really just takes away from the point of being outside in nature! The walk also just seemed very long with no rewards for the kids along the way (I.e. physical creatures they could interact with or look at - just little plaques every so often which didn'tinterest them at all really.) Even when we were leaving my eldest kept saying "are we going to find Zog now?", to which we had to respond, "no, that was it I'm afraid".
Lovely place, rubbish Zog trail experience....
Read moreHad a really lovely Spring-time walk with the kids. With pathways that are mostly made from stone, it's very accessible for walkers, bikes and accessibility aids alike. The Zog trail has changed to Superworm since the last time we went, but unfortunately it looks like they've also removed a lot of the climbing frames (no doubt due to COVID). There is still a smaller play area close to the café children can use, but we were expecting the wooden frames along the walk as previously they were. Speaking of walks, there is a huge choice from 1.5 to 10 miles and it's just so relaxing being in the countryside you almost don't realise you're right next to the M25. The café offers a decent range of food and drink and at respectable prices, so can't complain. Masks aren't required (but are...
