A lot of the time on a Sunday you just need a place with nice food good and friendly service and a family atmosphere and today that's exactly what we got. This was our first visit to the Thatched House in Upminster part of the Vintage Inn chain and we had a lovely family lunch the staff were indeed very friendly and made us feel welcome. We were well looked after by our waitress Sonia who really went the extra mile making sure we had everything we needed. The food was nicely cooked two had the roast sirloin one of us had the steak& mushroom pie and I had the roast Beef duo which included a delicious Beef Rib. The desserts were also nice and you can't beat a crumble with your Sunday lunch and I had a delightful dessert platter a nice mix of four desserts. So if it's a nice relaxing and friendly family Sunday lunch your looking for then this could be the place for you

Great Service, Tasty food in a cosy atmosphere. Saul served us all evening and was friendly and happy throughout. Seemed to enjoy his job. The twist on a Hunter Chicken was a delight and I absolutely adored the Black Forest Flower Pot for dessert. I would thoroughly recommend it. We were seated at a table near the back door where people went out to smoke. It did not bother us in the slightest, but there was a fresh breeze each time it opened (only 3 times all night), but if you are a person that feels the cold I would suggest requesting a seat away from it when you book. They say they will do their best to accommodate but can't guarantee. For us personally though, we couldn't fault the evening.

What a lovely place to eat. We went there for Sunday roast. The food was hot, well presented and tastes amazing. I went for the trio of meats. Both the turkey and sorlion beef was cooked perfectly. The belly pork was so tender its just pulled apart. Only downfull was the yorkies were all burnt in places but still tasted OK. The desserts tasted amazing. I went for the mini crumble and pot of tea. Well worth the money if you only want a small dessert. This may become one of my new favourite places to eat. The restaurant was clean, staff friendly and attentive.

Pub is grubby looking , walls have gravy splashed up them. Staff on the day of Xmas wasn’t very cheerful or had much personality. One of the girls that served us our drinks at our table had filthy finger nails which I think is disgusting if you’re serving food and drink. Paid over £200 for three Xmas dinners - totally overpriced for what looked and tasted like a supermarket already made frozen roast dinner that you put in the microwave. Potatoes were the worst thing on the plate even the waitress agreed. Those dinners were more like £10 per head than the £70 per head that we paid. Overall shockingly disappointing & waste of money & will never go back. Starter was ok but they over toasted the ciabatta style bread which ended up and crispy and crunchy like croutons. The manager on the day Zoe was very helpful and offered me a partial refund which I accepted. This was the first year we decided to eat out for a change for Xmas day and save all the hassle of cooking and tidying up but I really wish we hadn’t of bothered and had stayed at home and cooked a proper Xmas dinner and took time and care in the cooking of it because there was no care or thought at all in this awful meal. I never even ate my meal bcos I simply could not , it was that bad ! Ruined Xmas day for us this did. Never again ! Would defo NOT recommend the Thatched house for food - especially not Xmas dinner . Needs so...

the outside area had not been cleared of snow - I had my 90 yr old mother with me - it was treacherous under foot. The whole place was freezing cold and apologies given but not acceptable. We were able to be moved to a table next to a radiator after threatening to leave - explanation give that the windows were inadequate and they could not keep the room warm Soup arrived cold - sent back - explanation give that the kitchen had problems keeping food warm Main course - most of food was cold. My meal was reduced from what I would normally receive - only 2 scallops and 4 small prawns - usually 3 & 5/6. The sides - hallumi fries were inedible as well overcooked & onion rings again cold. Refund of these two items was given after complaining. Ladies toilets not working - had to queue to use disabled toilet. As a result toilet was not particularly clean

We were not the only people complaining about the coldness of the room and the food.

This was supposed to be a lovely meal with my mother before Xmas as a special treat. This was always our local place to eat. This is now the 3rd time having a bad experience. WE WILL...

Lovely pub, excellent food, really nice. Some in my party had the chicken and it was absolutely lovely. All the food and desserts was good. The decor was lovely with a real fire, comfortable chairs, Toilets were reasonable clean with a baby changing room. All in -all a lovely pub, BUT.....the waitress we had actually spoilt the whole meal, she was rude, deliberately slow and condescending.we were given the wrong menus which she literally screwed up at the table and shouted at the host that she had given the wrong menus out, came back to the table and didn't explain the menu although we asked her for suggestions. We actually thought maybe she owned the pub because of the way she was acting. But she was the waiting staff, she was constantly at the bar or outside smoking, with other guess having to get up from their table to see where she was. It did spoil the afternoon. But I would still recommend this pub becasue the food is great.Just that particular waitress let the whole pub down, she's more suited to harvest ers then this...
