About six months before we visited, my wife and I walked down the River Thames path and spotted the house in line with the first obelisk. We booked our tickets in advance, and the lady who was the tour guide was excellent. Her knowledge was remarkable, and we got a superb history lesson about the house and George III. One bonus was we were on the tour with a man with his daughter who had owned the original silk roll of the Chinese drawings reproduced on the walls in one of the rooms. Read moreThis place is one of the secret places I love to discover and I'm so glad that I got the chance to visit. The observatory it sits in its own grounds but within a golf course.
The tour has started with the history of the place, and then we moved from room to room, learning about the objects in each one.
My favourite room of the house it was the dining room with a bespoke wallpaper.
