Read moreSpud Wood is a small woodland area developed by the Woodland Trust from an area of old potato fields. Not hard to figure! I'd seen signs for it previously and had a couple of hours to spare on my way past so thought I'd take a look. It's about one kilometer east of the village of Lymm, situated just south of the Bridgewater Canal so it is handy to tie into other trails in and around Lymm village. The wood itself is more of a pleasant woodland short walk than an all-out hike and the paths are largely flat and firm. Ideal for dog walking and suitable for both wheelchairs and pushchairs. The route shown here is simply a trail around the outer edge of the woodland but there are lots of smaller paths running off if you want to explore. As stated, Lymm itself is close and handy to wander along the canal for lots of good...
Read moreThis is a great place to exercise my dog. The area is so peaceful and the birdsong wonderful. There is limited parking space. There are a couple of places that my dog can easily get in and out of the canal and a couple of wooden benches and picnic tables near the water. There are waste bins in the car park to deposit poop bags and other rubbish but not elsewhere in the park. Spud Wood is one of my favourite local amenities and we are lucky to have...
