Average size inner city park, can sometimes be a little scruffy and semi overgrown in places, beautiful building contained but unfortunately boarded up. The real gem is hidden tho, walk down past the disused building and into the bushes at the back, follow the unofficial paths to the boundary wall/arched steps that used to lead from the beautiful cobbled road that ran directly behind the park, past the former cemetery and up to the site main road

This our first time at this park. Park is very big and spacious. Plenty of walks down the field and forest, however it felt to me like you have to be constantly on alert if you walk beyond the play area down the forest and bridges. Play area yourself is standard with slide and merry go rounds for children to play with.

I remember practically living at this park when I was a kid. Art gallery & museum, library, tennis courts, bowling green as well as a playground, veterans club and ornamental garden. This park was amazing. Now it's a zombie of a park. Heartbreaking 😭

Unfortunately this place is a sad reminder of its former grandeur! The tour we took this afternoon reminded us that Manchester city council has just forgotten yet another part of the city. Bring back the city works! At last these people were paid proportional for the work they actually did! Stop using lazy private contractors at 10 times the cost for poor quality don't give a dam work! You'd not think that this was where the city was started. 2 stars a for nature now overgrowing...

Potentially a good park, one of the oldest public parks, with a fine building (former museum and gallery) at its centre.

But it typifies the indifferent attitude of the city council to areas outside the city centre. A general air of neglect pervades with litter abounding and an old lodge house gradually deteriorating into ruin. The statue of 19th century politicians. Ben Brierley has gone missing.

A terrible indictment of Manchester...
