Its a 'fair' day out for the kids. Theres plenty of land full of things to do to last all day. There are however a lot of areas and equipment that are desperately in need of refurbishment where the fun factor just doesn't exist anymore and you'll walk away thinking what a waist of time. Gift shop is a nice size shop, the contents is weighted very much towards teddy bears and small cheap tac rather than any good quality gifts, toys or souvenirs. Lots of activities and programs throughout the year which is nice. There are 2 huge impressive indoor climbing frames that also contain extra activities such as rope climbing and a small river rapids which has been put together very nicely providing lots of imagination for kids. Seating in the indoor areas is limited and gets full very quickly. The restaurant is just diabolical, offering mainly burgers and chips and a jacket potatoe for the more healthy conscious. I ordered a cheeseburger kids meal for my son which contained a tiny bit of beef and 2 buns. They didnt even remember the cheese. I didn't order a hot dog but im presuming this would be a similar set up, bread with a bit of sausage, no onions, no sauce. I had the adult cheeseburger which again was a small burger with 2 buns and a dropping of grated cheese, didnt taste good at all and was very expensive. You could be queuing for as long as 30 minutes at busy times. Its 1 star for the food im afraid, considering its a family attraction the choice and serving was a disgrace. Definately bring your own food! Overall a 'fair' day out for the kids with a fair and moderate fun factor, nothing too...
Read moreA Christmas day out, that wasn't a complete rip-off!
We went for a family and friends day out, which is something we do every year at Christmas and this year was Twin Lakes turn.
I have to be honest I'd never heard of the place before, and din't know what to expect from it, as I had not arranged it or done any research prior to arriving. To say I was pleasantly surprised is an understatement, there was loads to do regardless of the age be it 6 or 60. Theme park rides, and a magnificent indoor play area, some nice Christmas additions, such as hunt the snowman and decorating your own gingerbread man (extra cost).
The visit to see Santa Claus was very nicely organised and the indoor winter village and North Pole were lovely. They dropped a star due to the use of artificial snow made of single use plastics, which could have been done with a paper equivalent and been just as effective. The gift offered with the golden ticket was also a nice surprise as there must have been 50+ items to chose from, and the cost was only £9 on top of the £15 entry price.
I would definitely recommend this place for a family day out, and all the staff I interacted with were very helpful and in full festive spirits. Given the shorted days at this time of year I do recommend getting there early if you want to get the most value from your visit, and take advantage of the indoor picnic area as this has plenty of seating indoors for some respite from the biting cold.
Thanks to everyone at Twin Lakes for a great day out, and I am sure we'll be back again in...
Read moreTwinlakes Adventure Park in Melton Mowbray is a delightful destination that offers a magical experience for families. Spanning 100 acres, the park boasts over 50 rides and attractions, including themed zones, indoor play areas, a farm, and a seasonal water park, ensuring entertainment for all ages
The park's charm lies in its variety. Children can enjoy gentle rides like the caterpillar rollercoaster and boat rides, while also exploring the expansive play areas and engaging with animals at the Red Rooster Farm. Indoor zones such as Buccaneer’s Island and the Labyrinth provide ample activities, making Twinlakes a great choice regardless of the weather.
However, during peak times, some of the larger rides may experience longer queues due to staffing. On quieter days, staff often rotate between rides, which can lead to brief waits. While this system works well during off-peak periods, having additional staff on the bigger attractions during busier times could enhance the overall experience by reducing wait times.
Despite this, Twinlakes remains a fantastic family destination. Its blend of outdoor and indoor attractions, combined with the enchanting atmosphere, ensures a memorable day out. With a bit of planning, especially during peak seasons, visitors can fully enjoy the magic that Twinlakes...
