I went on the website to book 3 adult sessions for karting, just before payment I saw that there was a requirement to turn up 60 minutes early which was in 15 minutes time, the earliest i could arrive was 30 minutes prior. as someone who does a lot of karting I knew that most venues ask for a 30 minute window before the race to get going so to be on the safe side I called adrenaline quarry who run kartworld to check to see if I would be safe to book.
The lady on the phone suggested that I would not be safe to book as I must be there 60 minutes before for helmet fitting safety briefs etc. I have my own racesuit and helmet etc so I said as much and asked if the 60 minute time was flexible in anyway. Her answer was no, which was fair enough. But she went on to ask what time could I get to the venue, and when I told her she advised me to book the time anyway and turn up.
My obvious question was was would happen if I booked it, turned up and was told that I was late? Would I get a refund? The lady said no but suggested that I book the time and turn up anyway.
I asked for any reassurances as Β£35 is a lot of money for me and she hung up on me.
I want to make it clear that a simple answer of "60 minutes is set in stone, the website should not really be advertising a timeslot that's unreasonable to attend, so I don't advise booking it" would have made me disappointed but understanding, instead her advise to book it anyway and hope for the best without actually attempting to gain reassurances for advice from the kartworld venue before making such suggestions was pretty bad. I know from experience how cutthroat adrenaline quarry can be on their cut off times for turning up, I've witnessed families being turned away from the waterpark for being a few minutes late.
Her advice most definitely would have cost me Β£35+ fuel. And hanging up on someone who's desperately trying to not lose their entire weeks karting budget in a oner is a definite way to ensure that that person will never go karting...
Β Β Β Read moreBooked for a particular time and turned up early as requested by the venue. We were then asked to wait until our booking time to start queueing (leaving us wondering why we were required to turn up early). We then had to queue for an hour and a half, in blaring sun with little to no shade. The Cafe that's available was poorly stocked for a half term week and had pretty much run out of food and ice-cream by lunch time.
Overall, it's not what the website sells and leaves you feeling stranded! When asking for a refund, we were offered vouchers to return - quite funny, as who on earth would want to do that again?!
The car park is also a bit of fun. No lines on floor and noone managing where people park leaving our car, along with many others, completely blocked in and no one there to help .... Stranded!!! Overall a pretty poor experience in a place that could have a load of potential if...
Β Β Β Read moreKarts are good and track is decent, as someone who karts regularly the only thing I found disappointing was the staff. There is no effort to make conversation, applaud lap times, talk to groups etc. if you go to a place like Teamsport karting, you are hosted the minute you arrive with a staff member, which they will then speak to you during sessions by giving tips, and just chat to your group and make sure your having a good time etc throughout your visit, here at kart world they just give you a briefing which is essentially a 3 minute PowerPoint, youβre then sent to get changed, you then get to go on track, come off after 10 mins, get given ur lap times on paper, and then thatβs it, thereβs not really any interaction from the staff which is unlike any other karting venue Iβve been too, and it letβs the experience down...
