A great place to park and gain access to the South downs way and many other great walks along the downs, including one to the Chattri memorial. There are some amazing views north from here of the towns and villages right up to the north downs. The windmills do not have public access but are a great sight up on the hill. The free car park here is a decent size but can get full at holiday times and take care on the narrow road to the Windmills as it is single lane and only has a few passing places.

It was a fantastic experience seeing the mill actually working

One of these windmills is beautifully restored - so much so it’s functional! We were invited to enter the windmill and see its workings up close - truly a marvel of 19th century engineering and well worth a visit. We were welcomed by two extremely friendly and knowledgeable volunteers. A lovely experience. Tea and cakes are also sold here! Wonderful views and lovely walks all around this area. Open every Sunday through summer of 2024.

Sadly visited on a day when the Windmill wasn’t open (just happened to be close). Looks great and the views across the South Downs from the car park are amazing. There’s also a nice walk to go on from the car park (free). We were told that the Jack windmill is now a private residence and we could see from the path that the cap and the sails had been removed. Will come again on an open day, thanks to the volunteers for...
