Caswell has a huge tide range, you can find it as an enormous wet sand expanse, or, at high tide, as two distinct coves with dry, warm, golden sand. A whole extra section of beach emerges at the eastern end at low tide, with small explorable sea caves, while at the west end, low tide will trigger climbers to enjoy the steep slab climbs.
During the summer months the bay attracts a lot of visitors, with the modest car park often overwhelmed, there is also a bus service. In the winter it can be quite desolate and windswept.
The bay is lifeguarded during the summer months, and is largely very safe to bathe, bodyboard, SUP, or surf. In the winter, the all weather wild swimmers brave the coldest of seas.
Surfability Wales has its base here, bringing activity throughout the the year, along with the junior lifeguards, and school parties.
There’s a sit in café, ideal for the cold days, and couple of takeaways for chips and ice creams. Municipal toilet facilities are well maintained as are external cold showers to clean off the sand.

Read moreBeautiful beach, shame about the parking! We visited here on a hot Friday in August 2025. We arrived at 11am only to find that the car park was completely full, much to our disappointment. So we ended up parking at Langland Bay, spending the day there and then walking along the coastal path to visit Caswell Bay. The beach at Caswell is beautiful & large when the tide is out. Langland is a lot rockier in comparison. There’s a cafe and a shop that sells fish & chips, beach paraphernalia etc. The public toilets were large and quite clean. Will visit again but will arrive much earlier next time to get in...
