Standing proud at 475m above sea level, Bowscale Tarn is one of the easiest to access in the Lake District. Situated in the North it's not as well known and relatively quiet in comparison to the others. Ease of access has got to be mentioned here too because the tourist road to the top is well built and takes about 40 -50 mins. Once there you can relax if you don't bump into a group of skinny dippers like I did. Myself and 2 friends pitched tents for one night and had a really great night exploring around the tarn. No disabled access. Free parking at the bottom. I didn't see one bit of litter and would love to see it stay that way. Take midge repellent!

I had been to lake district to explore Boyscale Tarn and I find it really beautiful, although the trek to the lake is a lil bit challenging but when you reach there you will feel like you are in some other world. You must carry something to eat to enjoy the cold breeze with your lunch and memorable view and don't forget to bring your trash back

Beautiful tarn. Peaceful and quiet. And not a million miles to hike to. I did it in about 50 minutes. Lovely place for camping, hiking and just admiring the beauty of the place. Leave no trace.

Lovely place to have a picnik and dip with the kids. It's a fair 40 minute trek to get there from the roadside and well worth the effort. If you're then feeling energetic there is the steep climb to the top for fantastic views. As you go up don't be disappointed when you think you've seen the top to discover it keeps going up... My 6 year old daughter made it to the...
