I feel that Paultons park is the best value for money theme park that we have visited. We often do weekends at Legoland, Drayton manor etc, but I must say we feel we get the best value for our money here. We have visited here several times now and each time it gets better, as the children get taller, and can now do everything. The only thing my youngest couldn't do was Cyclonator & Edge. We once again booked the 2 day break, over night hotel at the Holiday Inn Winchester, and then the second day free back in the park. Both days in the park were just fantastic. Sadly, both mine have just about outgrown Peppa Pig world now, but we still pass through to get ice cream from Miss Rabbits shop and we will still go on rides if we fancy it. There is so much to do in the rest of the park. All staff we came across were polite & friendly. We don't eat here as bring our own, so I can't comment on prices or quality. Snacks such as ice cream, drinks etc are pricey but absolutely no different to any other theme park we have visited. The hotel we have stayed in before. Lovely hotel, large, clean rooms. Food in the restaurant delicious. Breakfast perfect the next morning. Only around 20min drive from the theme park with no traffic. The only shame here was they started charging Β£10 for parking from Jan 1st this year, whereas when we stayed previously it was free. But, every other aspect here was great so it was fine. The children had free colour sheets and crayons on arrival, and a voucher for milk and biscuits. Second day at the park was as perfect as the first. One thing we love about this park is the fact they don't do fast passes like other theme parks, and what a difference this honestly makes. At other parks (such as Legoland) , fast passes are more available, and because SO many people buy them, the normal ques are horrendous, up to an hour or more queuing in some rides. Every single time we have visited Paultons park, we have never been met with a big que. The ques run SO much better without the big fast pass system. Obviously I know there are passes available for those unable to quΓ©, but this is a different matter and not what im commenting about. I also know some type of fast pass is available too in VIP packages I think I read, but they don't seem as popular. Anyway, we had no trouble queuing for rides anyway. The one place you will meet ques is obviously Peppa world. We don't go on these rides much anymore, but when we did, we found that if we went to the rest of the park first and did Peppa later on around lunch or just after, it was much quieter as everyone flocks there first thing. Absolutely perfect 2 days. Splash pad was open so I remembered to take the kids swimming stuff to play here. The only thing I'd say about is, in Tornado springs, there is always a sewage sort of smell floating around (every time we have been). Obviously causes no issue to us but is just a bit unpleasant, not sure if there's a reason for it. Also, it would be amazing if we could exit the park NOT via the gift shop. This isn't because my kids want gifts, but because it is absolute carnage with everyone trying to leave the park through the gift shop. It was bedlam. It would be great if they could open one of the doors to the left before you go through the gift shop, giving those a chance to leave who don't wish to go through it. This time we went (4-5th Aug), we were met with horrendous gridlocked traffic leaving the carpark which we have never had before. I'm not sure why this is. They seemed to be trying to control the traffic leaving the carpark manually .We've not had this before, but it was mayhem. Anyway, we love it, and will be back! Thanks guys βΊοΈ Just to add on as I remember, I also always find the toilets are clean and I LOVE the fact that the toilets have child seats over...
Β Β Β Read moreWow - what can I say. I have been to many theme parks in my time (and quite a few with the kids) but this one takes the prize for first place. Paultons Park was brilliant!!
I have reviewed other family friendly theme parks and always added the 'warning' not to expect adrenaline like Thorpe Park or Alton Towers, but Paultons has it all! ... still not Thorpe Park / Alton Towers levels but at least now my children want to go those places and really embraced the challenges of the more adult rides here.
We visited in February half term on a two day ticket anticipating large crowds and long queues. But the first major positive was that there were literally no major queues at all! The longest we queued was about 15 minutes but the majority of the time we could enjoy the ride, walk round the queue system, back to the front and join the ride straight away. This was even the case with the 'top end' rides like Flight of the Pterosaur, Cobra, Velociraptor and Storm Chaser etc.
The whole park was well planned and presented with clear 'areas' to visit ranging from dinosaurs to bugs to mid America. Each had its own theme, rides and food options. The rides ranged from 'child only' meaning my 4 year old could ride alone, up to the rides that we could all enjoy. My 4 year old only missed out on some rides because she was a few cm too short (she will be back, she says so, when she has grown a little bit). There were also some great animals to look at and natural areas to explore which provided a nice additional element that some theme parks can't offer. Truth be told, this was a secondary element to the rest of the park but did allow us to 'calm' the kids down before our long drive back home after our second day.
The Peppa Pig World section was probably the busiest of all the places in the park and also had the longest queues. This was truly the area for the youngest visitors and had a whole host of fun rides and activities to explore. Luckily for me, my kids are not Peppa Pig fans so we got to stick to the parks other areas for most of the time although they also enjoyed some of the rides on offer here.
A special mention must go to some of the ride staff who added to the fun of the day. Many had a giggle with my 4 year old who often had to state her age to get on the rides and one amazing guy (Robert (?) I think) who made my eldest's ride as 'pilot' on a plane ride super special by giving her a shout out on 'takeoff' and when returning her passengers safely on 'landing'. She really loved it - he clearly loved his job which was so nice to see and something all the visitors could see as well. Additionally, my two girls do like to run ahead (even after warnings to stay close) and on one occasion, it was refreshing to see one of the staff members staying with our girls to ensure that we were close behind following them and that they were not lost.
All in all, I would rate this park as one of the best (probably the best) for families with younger children - it even ranks well as a standard theme park for the older crowd too. We all thoroughly enjoyed our two days here and intend to return in future. I have to be extra thankful as my eldest at 6 years old is now super keen to take on the countries fastest and highest rides at other theme parks and that is all thanks to Paultons...
Β Β Β Read moreWe visited Paultons Park over Easter weekend (Friday and Saturday), arriving at 9:30am both days. We were let into the park early, closer to Peppa Pig World, and waited at the gates until the official opening at 10am.
The park itself is spotlessly clean and beautifully maintained, with amazing flower displays around the park and attention to detail in the landscaping. It really adds to the overall atmosphere and makes for a nice walk between rides.
Queue times were very reasonable β generally between 10β15 minutes, with only a few exceptions. The Paultons Park app was useful, giving live queue times and directions to each ride, which helped us avoid long waits and explore efficiently. Over the Easter weekend it was very busy, apparently one of the busiest days, and queue times were still very good.
While Peppa Pig World was the main reason for going, there's so much more beyond it. Our three-year-old (90cm tall) had plenty to enjoy throughout the park. Children under 1 metre get in for free, which is a great bonus.
Toilets were consistently clean and thoughtfully designed β all of them had built-in child seats, which made everything much easier with a toddler. It's probably the most child-friendly park weβve been to.
One thing that stood out was the parkβs inclusive hiring practices. Many of the staff appeared to have additional needs, and it's good to see such responsible and diverse employment. It enhanced the customer experience β everyone we encountered was friendly, patient, and helpful. The shops also had a wide age range among staff, which was nice to see.
We chose the two-day entry option, which was definitely worth it. It gave us time to explore everything at a relaxed pace. We stayed at the nearby Botley Park Hotel & Spa β reasonably priced and perfect for unwinding after a full park day.
Food prices were fair for a theme park: a kids' meal with toast, hummus, and carrots was Β£7.50, and sausage rolls were around Β£4.50. Snacks were a bit pricey but not unexpected. A standout feature: the small coin-operated-style rides (like the ones you usually see in supermarkets) were scattered around the park β and they were free to use!
Staff were fantastic throughout β especially when it came to helping children meet Peppa Pig and friends outside of official meet-and-greets. The park is compact and easily walkable, with tidy, well-kept gardens making the whole experience really enjoyable.
One thing worth mentioning: we saw some staff facing unnecessary rudeness from entitled parents, which was disappointing. Parents shouting about wanting to queue jump, or swearing because the queue assist system had some rules in place that they didnβt like. It was totally unnecessary. The staff dealt with it very well, but itβs a shame that there are entitled people like this in the world who act like this.
Overall: Paultons Park is an incredibly well-run, family-friendly park that truly goes above and beyond for young children. Weβll definitely be back β highly recommended for any family with...
