I have visited Warners Holme lacy on two previous occassion, and both times, very good experiences. Sadly, unable to say the same for my visit to Thoresby. On a positive Note, House staff were courteous, polite and welcoming. My room accommodation was excellent and the hall and gardens were very impressive. Restaurant service and food choices not so good. My starter choice of the smoked salmon and prawn rillete were poor on two occassion due to the bread being too cold and hard to bite, İ understand tge need to pre prep, but perhaps they could be remove from the refrigerator earlier? Broccoli and stilton soup, no seasoning and unable to detect the stilton, our server kindly brought me an alternative choice. We were advised no lemon slice available in the restaurant for Gin and tonic on all nights? Tables left uncleared. Staff were doing there best, but didn't seem to be adequate allocation of the area 'covers'. We ordered a bottle of wine for our arrival in one of our rooms, which was like warm when we arrived. Rooms on 3rd floor are very hot so we asked for an ice bucket which didn't arrive at all, so we returned it for a refund. Entertainment not impressive on Sunday night, very amateurish in compsrision to other nights İ have attended, there was a mass exodus after the show. I can understand there are staffing issues and İ do think possibly down to 'training issues' too but having had a very good experience on two previous occassions at Holme Lacy Hall, İ would be unlikely to visit this venue again for...

Read moreVisit spoilt by chaos in restaurant. We were ttold we were in Market Kitchenrestaurant which did not exist. Signage to Sherwood Restaurant was inadequate, resulting in guests wondering around trying to get to the restaurant before dying from hunger. Biggest problem was not being alloted a table for the duration of our stay, resulting in being put in various parts of the restaurant at each meal; given table already allocated to other guests and on one occasion, having been allocated a table, found other guests sitting at the table when we returned from getting food from the carvery. We were informed that reallocation was necessary due to three coach parties. But several coaches is not unusual at other Warner sites and we have never had to change tables each meal time before. Humans generally dislike change and guests get to know fellow guests and their waiter. Food and room service was very good. Entertainment was excellent. Visiting entertainers were...
