A National Trust property, free admission to the extensive grounds, just £2 for 4 hours in the carpark for non members. Plenty of fun for dogs and children even in the muddy conditions when we last visited: on a sunny day it's a great place to be. There's room for all, very unstressful! Good cafe, smashing shop for preloved books and an eco products shop (limited opening hours). Plus an interesting crafts/gift shop which also sells timber off cuts ready for lathe turning or other projects; anyone interested in wood working will find this fascinating. Somewhere that's just a little bit different, easily accessible as it's just off the M4, junction 28. More info on their website. All in all, a...

The gardens developed mainly during the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. They consist mainly of three large walled compartments and a smaller one at the north-west end. The high walls are of brick and on the central axis are ornamented openings. Each compartment is laid out differently. In the cedar garden there's a 250-year-old Cedar of Lebanon tree, that they decorate at Christmas times, there's also a stone obelisk, erected in memory of ‘Sir Briggs’, the horse who carried Godfrey Morgan, the first Lord Tredegar, during the Charge of the...

First time visiting via my NT membership. Given covid the upper rooms and the understair rooms were closed but the ground floor rooms were open. They were absolutely beautiful full of history and intrigue. Appareny Dr Who was filmed there too. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming. The gardens were also stunning bit given we visited during a heat wave we spent most of our time sat under a tree! The park was extremely busy with families enjoying the weather. Its definitely...

Beautiful house to explore, but if you don't want to pay, the gardens are free and absolutely stunning, and dogs are allowed. There's a kids' play area and a cafe, highly recommended. We go quiet often with our dogs. This time was with family, so we paid to see the inside of the house, which was stunning x

A very beautiful garden and gorgeous house and furnishings. The volunteers are all fabulous. I live in Llangyfelach, and it was very much worth the hour drive there and back! I really can't say enough good things about Tredegar House!
