Sandleigh Tea Room & Garden is located at the base of Baggy Point, and so the obvious place to stop after a wonderful walk taking in the views. We were however a little disappointed at the service - not being very welcoming and the fact that for the price, our cream teas were not with fresh cream/jam, and the tea not in a pot. It might sound silly but when travelling all the way to North Devon and trying a place that boasts great Cream Teas, the little things matter. We just expected more from a National Trust place. It would also be nice if the outside tables were sanitised and cleaned between customers even though you are expected to clear your own table. More down to the birds landing and eating crumbs as well as other hygiene reasons. The garden is beautiful and nice to sit in and the items to eat were good. Luckily enough for us before travelling back we found Nelly Mays Parlour with the most AMAZING freshly baked cream tea with home made jam and cream, with tea served in a pot with China and real cutlery.

Nice atmosphere. Expensive. It looks like someone's (well tended) back garden with planting everywhere and a mix of seating. However, that all fits perfectly with the stone construction of the building and surrounding wall. The enclosed outside eating area provides shelter from any cooling winds and deadens the sound of the sea allowing for quiet eating. Service was friendly and efficient. The food was OK, obviously pre-prepared, but very expensive for what it was. A nice place to visit once but we'll give it a miss in future.

What a tea room, what a location! Nestled at the end of Croyde Bay, this lovely tea room is situated within a secret garden where the owners are lovingly maintaining one of the best vegetable gardens I've ever seen complete with scarecrow. The drinks are delicious as is the Cream Tea and the menus and food looked out of this world. Can't wait to come again.

Stopped in here after a family walk round Baggy Point. Staff were very welcoming, friendly and efficient, ice-cream and drink ranges were excellent and well-priced (I've paid almost double elsewhere for Langage Farm), and the whole place was dog friendly (there was even doggy ice-cream!). The gardens were lovely - lots of little birds singing, sunny and shade options for seating, and there was a really friendly vibe to the place. Nice recycling system set up, everywhere accessible for pushchairs and wheelchairs, everyone included (on the menu and in the grounds). They also seem to be running some sort of community gardening initiative, as all the flowerbeds were labelled with people's names. A lovely end to a lovely trip.

I then made the mistake of leaving my bag behind... I rang up, assuming I'd lost it, and the staff were amazing. They had it, they kept it safe for me until I could get back to it, they took all the right precautions to ensure they gave it back to the right person, and they even sat me down with a cuppa when I went to collect it (I was a tad stressed to have lost everything!).

I already had very positive things to say about this little gem of a place, but I was absolutely blown away by the kindness and compassion of the team. Genuinely couldn't have asked for more. Thank you to...
