A lovely place for long walks, dog walks, games, bike rides and picnics. There are numerous ways to walk round, including through some lovely woodland. Although there were people around, quite often noone would be seen so peaceful and calm to feel one with nature. At the top of the heath you see for miles across the heath and golf course, then Royston and Cambridgeshire beyond. There are also sports facilities other then golf such as rugby and tennis and a bar/cafe on site too. We didn't visit this but lots of tables outside with lovely views. The car park is fairly big, we visited on a weekend so probably slightly busier but could still park. The only thing missing was maybe a map and signs around the trails as we just had to use our sense of direction. Great for all people however the elderly may struggle as lots of climbs, slopes and tree roots. Wheelchairs abd buggies may...
Read moreI regularly go just to sit and enjoy the views plus the piece and quite. Like one of the previous reviews it's a shame people don't abide by the rules just open the door or boot and let the dog out, on two recent visits there was a horse rider which with people letting their dog's run loose is a little concerning. Sadly I did notice that there are no bins (noting rubbish in the corner overlooking the McDonald's) a warden patrolling once in a while might help cure both the dog's and the dumped rubbish. I do not recommend taking a low slung car more likely to rip the sump off (glad I have a 4x4 pickup truck) watched a Merc come very close. I do hope that with all the recent incidents of traveller's setting up camp that it does not become necessary too install a height bar or block the entrance with a concrete block, sadly I have come across this at other beauty spots around...
Read moreWent here after work on my way back home. Seems to be fairly popular with the locals. Meaning the free car park was moderately busy with a few available spaces. I headed out of the car park after reading the helpful information board. The path here is easy to follow and logically makes it's way round the outside of the golf course. There is a circular walk to follow along a mainly chalk path, with great views of the surrounding area. Eventually I ended in a wooded section with signs indicating this was part of the Icknield way. There was also another wooded section containing some delicate lollies. The whole walk took less than 90 minutes at a...
