Salthouse Beach, located on the northern coast of Norfolk, England, is a serene and relatively undiscovered gem known for its natural beauty and tranquility. This pebble beach, flanked by salt marshes and the North Sea, offers visitors a peaceful escape from more crowded coastal areas. The beach is a popular spot for birdwatchers, thanks to its proximity to the Cley Marshes Nature Reserve, which attracts a variety of avian species throughout the year. The landscape of Salthouse Beach is characterized by its shingle bank, which acts as a barrier against the sea, protecting the delicate marshland ecosystems inland. Walking along the beach provides stunning panoramic views of the Norfolk coastline, with opportunities to observe wildlife, including seals and various seabirds. The area is also a favorite for anglers, who appreciate the quiet and abundant fishing opportunities. Salthouse village, with its charming flint cottages and historic church, is just a short walk from the beach, offering a glimpse into the region’s rich heritage. Despite its unspoiled nature, Salthouse Beach has minimal facilities, so visitors are advised to come prepared. This lack of commercial development enhances its appeal as a tranquil and unspoiled retreat, ideal for those seeking solitude and a connection with nature.

Would be the perfect dead end lane to a quiet beach... If people could clear up after themselves. Why go to a quiet unspoilt stretch of coast to spoil it? 🙁 They've added signs and posts to keep an area clear for emergency vehicles - a good idea as it's also a turning space. Still spoilt by rubbish - clear up or don't come!

Drive to stoney beach is no problem. Park for free at side of road by beach. I met a friendly local so I assume they are all nice around there. It seems to be a spot for dog walkers or fisherman and the view of the area ain't bad. If I pass this place again on a nice day I'd probably chill out here for a bit.

No facilities at all here and limited parking is on the narrow road leading up to the beach. There's a bit of a hard slog across the pebbles to get to the sea, but it's very unspoilt and calm, and you won't have many people around you. It's perfect for a bit of tranquillity. There was sadly a family who decided to light a BBQ, filling the air with smoke and other fumes. Out of courtesy they could have moved further down the beach, but some people are selfish these days. Otherwise a very nice place to spend a...

Beautiful long beach with small pockets of sand exposed at low tide. Free parking on the road leading to the beach although not a lot of turning space. The car park no longer exists as it was buried by shingle during a storm surge about a decade ago. More parking along the coast road if non available down beach road. Dog friendly and a short walk from the centre of Salthouse where you’ll find a pub and...
