Weetslade Country Park is a great spot for a walk, offering a mix of open fields, woodlands, and gentle hills with lovely views over the surrounding countryside. The paths are well-maintained, making it an easy and enjoyable walk for all fitness levels. The climb to the top of the former colliery spoil heap is short but rewarding, with a panoramic view of Newcastle and beyond. It’s a peaceful place, not as busy as some other parks, which makes it perfect for a relaxing stroll. There’s plenty of wildlife around, especially birds, and the different trails mean you can switch up your route each time you visit. The best part? The dog absolutely loved it! Lots of open space to explore, interesting scents everywhere, and plenty of friendly dogs to meet. Definitely a great spot for a walk, whether you’re looking for a short stroll or a longer wander.

Easily accessible, there is a surfaced winding path all the way from the bottom to the very top of the hill. There are also benchs if you need to rest or just to sit and enjoy the views, you dont have to be fit to reach the top of the hill, and the 360° veiw is totally unspoilt, on a good clear day you can see what seems like forever into the horizon. Well worth a visit. However there is plenty of passing air traffic due to its close proximity to Newcastle Air Port.

Nice place for a walk and great views. Multiple walk paths. Can take 15 mins or 3 hours. Walk dog, bike, horse, kids, wheelchair friendly. Benches along the path up hill to the art installation, with great views at the benches and the top. Not too far from flight path so it's great for watching planes coming in to land too. Also a bird hide, and planty of fruit trees along main wagon way path. It's actually a great little nature park for everyone to enjoy.

Wow, what an unexpected bonus. Needed a spot of country walking to clear our heads after a difficult day. First surprise was plentiful free parking. Then it was a journey of discovery. Walking up the slight gradient we wound our way to the statues. What a series of wonderful views in the early evening sunshine. By the time we reached the top, we were treated to a slight shower but it didn't detract from the natural beauty. As we began to descend on the way back, the views became more industrial, but still fabulous in their own way....
