I'll start by saying all the good things, and there are a lot. The inflatable water park is fantastic. We had an absolutely great time on it. An hour may not feel like enough, but honestly it's plenty. By 30 minutes we had to pause for a break because we were exhausted but at the hour mark we'd just about done all the obstacles and were starting to feel ready to come off and collapse.
There were a good range of obstacles. It might not appear obvious but you get access to all the inflatables for the one price. The green and yellow ones were the simplest and easiest and were actually really fun to run round a little faster. Then I think the dark blue ones were the next harder and these were also really fun. Then the white and blue ones were the biggest and most difficult. All three sets had really good variety and used every muscle in my body. I'm writing this a couple of hours later and everything is just starting to ache in that good way. There were slides and climbs and jumps. There were more technical obstacles and balances and monkey bars. There were steep bits and gentle bits, fast bits and slow bits. I think we only came across 2 obstacles that were duplicated and both of these were in the white and blue section, but it didn't take anything away form the experience. Absolutely great, I would really recommend this.
The lifeguard presence was good and we felt safe at all times. The induction video was quick and painless and clear. Everyone seemed to obey the rules. It wasn't too crowded. There was little to no litter. Most of the surfaces you actually touched were very clean. We were warm enough and even in the rain had a great time. The arrival procedures were easy and quick and reasonably clear. Car parking was simple enough. There was a food van with slightly pricey but nice enough chips, burgers, etc.
Now onto the slightly less good, the reason for taking off one star. Everything that wasn't on the actual water felt a bit cheap and cobbled together. The changing rooms were only just indoors, comprising of carpet tiles on wooden decking and some shipping containers, with a corrugated plastic roof. No doors. There were weeds and brambles growing through the floor and under the edges. It didn't feel clean, or like it had been actually dry in years. There were no showers which, considering its in a lake, seems pretty poor to me. The locker situation was unclear and poor, with padlocks sold from somewhere and handles that didn't seem to turn properly on any lockers. On any surface not touched often on the inflatables there was a thick layer of mould. Some of the bits you might touch if you slipped were coated in black mold. This felt a little gross and offputting. There was a lot of dragging yourself out of the water which is fine, but exhausting. A couple of ladders or steps or something a bit easier would have been appreciated around the 40 minute mark.
To be fair to them, it looked when we were there as though they were maybe building a new building there, so perhaps that'll be a new set of changing rooms or something.
Overall I'd say definitely go, but be prepared...
Read moreI have been to cliff lakes 3 times now and honestly it is the most fun you can have for a day in the midlands!
For our first trip, we booked two sessions for wakeboarding and were unsure about viewing area for one visitor (group of 3 of us). So we called up and spoke to a gentleman on the phone who was more than helpful and said our spectator could actually come in the boat with us!
When we arrived, we were greeted by a man named Ollie. Ollie was our trainer for the afternoon as we’d never been wakeboarding before. He honestly was the most friendly, patient and best teacher we could have asked for. We had a bit of banter but he was an excellent teacher.
We’d gone for a friends birthday and he didn’t want to go first so I went first. I was fortunate enough to actually get up and surf the wake first time of trying and he very quickly adapted his teaching to what he described as “lesson 3 or 4”. He’d gone through all the things that could happen (like falling front on and how to get on your back again) before we even tried being pulled by the boat.
After I’d done my runs, my friend was up and he struggled to get up but Ollie was super patient and gave him a few goes with advice in between of taking it step by step and not rushing etc. After those attempts, he made it up and did two runs. Ollie joined in with our excitement and he was as supportive as someone can be.
I honestly cannot recommend this place enough and I will 100% be going back. We did not try the aqua park but it looks a heck of a lot of fun!
Also a big thank you to Ollie for making our friends birthday one...
Read moreThis is fun!…physically hard work. There are 5 sections included in your ticket - also included is the wetsuit & some grip socks (wetsuit is returned, grip socks are to keep). You can wear your own ‘water shoes’ but the socks are fine. Lockers need a padlock (see photos) these cost £3 & you keep it. There are 4 inflatable courses & a ‘high ropes’ course - if you manage to get to the end of the ‘hard’ high ropes course & ring the bell you win x2 tickets to return for free! Changing rooms is just a big space…no individual changing rooms. Locker area is small. Life guards are attentive & the brief beforehand was detailed. I found it physically challenging to get myself back into the platforms to get back onto the course…however with a pull from friends it is doable! 🥴 There is seating for spectators - plus some within a see-through marquee should it be raining or cold. The water has a blue dye in & seemed clean. No weed/algae (expect on the inflatables which is expected) There was a lot of people the day we visited (however we were told it wasn’t busy)…due to the 5 different courses people seemed to spread out well. I would recommend this &...
