We visited today with my dad and family. Dad is very poorly and in a wheelchair and the amazing people working there went above and beyond to help. Nothing was too much effort. The accessibility and services there are brilliant and they even have a virtual tour for upstairs so that he didn’t miss a thing. Every single person and all the cafe staff made sure we got to enjoy this beautiful place thoroughly. Although the cafe was due to close, they kept it open so he could enjoy his delicious home made cake and a cup of tea. The outside benches have an elongated edge so that wheelchair users can sit with their family and not over reach to get drinks and snacks. The pathways meant that we could enjoy the garden thoroughly too. The lute player came down from upstairs and said that had he been made aware there was a wheelchair user, he would have come down to play to him personally so he didn’t miss out. He was heard though from the open window. There’s a lot for all ages to enjoy there and some activities planned each month too. In terms of value there’s no end of options depending on age groups, family sizes etc and all very reasonably priced. Plenty of free parking too. The kindness was overwhelming and Dad got to enjoy it immensely. Thank you one and all for making what could have been a challenging experience so simple...
Read moreWe have just returned from visiting this house and garden not forgetting the Barn tea room. It is so refreshing to find such a place having Karen there to piece the history and people of different centries was brilliant. Her passion for the house is obvious and her knowledge outweighed anywhere we had previously been she made it feel reel because of the way she told us. We will definitely be back for an event and we will tell others about the house.
The cake in the Barn tea room was delious we had the lime one, lovely atmosphere and a welcomed resting place after wondering around the garden, we really liked the information plaques about the plants as we do love gardening.
We also bought plums and apples from the garden to take home and a jar of crab apple jelly jam.
Well Hats off! To all you the volunteers there you are doing a fantastic job. Bye for now especially to Karen thank you

Read moreWhat a wonderful place! Depicting a period of history often overlooked the house and garden are beautifully laid out and the team are incredible. Friendly, engaging, knowledgeable and kind. You learn so much about the house, the period, daily life and beliefs and customs of the time. The gardens and woodland attached are equally beautiful and stunningly maintained. The garden is arranged with plants and herbs of the time and the beautiful little black plaques near plants or hanging on trees tell you so much about their names, species, origins and significance to the period in terms of daily life (medicinal, culinary, religion based or cleaning and scenting the home uses) you cannot fail to learn. The tea room is a nice respite and serves as a produce, book and gift shop too. Well worth the visit and has a spiritual draw to it too, something about the place is so comforting...
