Download festival located in Derby, at the donington racecourse circuit. I took my 15 year old daughter who has disabilities to see band's Skillet and Korn. The layout had changed from my last visit, lot's of new additions added, glamping sites ect, information, directions and signposting around the venue need updating. We had to walk from drop-off and collection point located at the other end of the venue in order to get to the main stage area, this was really tiring and stressful and unless you register your ticket as a person with disabilities you cannot access any of the amenities even with your personal prof of disability. We watched people been dropped off and collecting, parents parking their car and walking off to meet up, but we was told we wasn't allowed to wait whilst my husband and I was checking out hotel reservation, I have two disabilied children ( twin's) only one was attending this event, whilst I took my daughter, my husband took her sister to a hotel near by. I didn't feel like I was given good assistance when I asked for help, one member of staff told me that the official merchandise stall was Infact back in the village lol, I'm glad I didn't take him at his word. Coming away from the venue we cut across the airstream trailer park and onto the main road saving us from walking over a mile from the drop off and collection point, unfortunately you would not have been able to get back into the venue as this requires you to have your tickets scanned by the one ticket check point located over half a mile away from the main staging area. The official download merchandise was dated with the year 20.21 with a Christmas motif. There was no official merchandise for Korn or Skillet. We literally stayed two hours before leaving because my daughter and myself was just too tired to walk around looking to check out the rest of the festival, a little disappointing when you pay £100 each ticket. I also witnessed a couple of people take a really bad fall from tripping over large stones and cobbles that changed the original packaging area to the grassy areas, no signpost to caution, big cobbles just kicked over the grass and pretty dangourse to the pedestrians trying to get from either side of the venue. I wouldn't be surprised if there was some serious injuries due to this. Overhaul the band's was great!👌🏼
Update one year on.. Download 23. Sunday 11th.
This year download fell on the one of the hottest days of the year. Thankfully download provided more places to get out of the sun, water stations. Be sure to take your bank card people, because your money has no value here, unless you ask someone to swap cash for credit. 😂 and yes I did.. 😳 much to the embarrassment of my...
Read moreWent for Download festival. If the weather isn't great it's always super muddy and disgusting. I'm not coming back again. Poorly run, always delays and despite assurances the delays are for our safety and things are being done to enhance our safety and visit, it's a load of rubbish. The place was a dangerous slippery slop of a place. I've been to the festival many times, when it's dry, not so much of a problem (but there's always something with that festival), it seems to be since the disaster of the track being altered (for the F1 then not being able to complete) the drainage around the place has gotten worse. I'll be going to a different fest or an European one next year. Download is way over price, especially this year when the entrance was pushed back 2 hours, bands all had their times cut and the first band started before fans got into the arena despite assurances (blatant lies) from security telling the fans that none of the bands would start without fans being there. Many of my friends missed the band we came to see who were first on the main stage on Sunday. Was a lot of money to fork out and a lot of effort to go to to miss the only reason we came to the festival.
In regards to buying tickets in advance: yes if you insist on going, but more people need to boycot this place until everything is sorted. Too many people are complaining about things yet still coming back, and promoters won't learn that what happened this year and previous years isn't acceptable.
Last time I came up on a day ticket I missed every single band I wanted to see, didn't get into the arena until 5pm, I aimed for doors open, I lasted 2 bands then gave up to go home. Once again, was an absolute mud pit, plus there was problems with the car parks and roads around...
Read moreRecently visited Donington Park for the BTCC event. It took about 30 min to get to the main entrance from queuing up on the road. At the time there was a road closure which delayed us slightly but the diversion was signposted to follow. On entering the Park we followed everyone to park the car then proceeded to the main entrance where they scanned our tickets. We purchased our tickets online at a discounted price to the gate prices. The day itself was good, with some good races but not too many crashes!!! We had purchased seating at the Hollywood Grandstand, which must be said gives you a good view of 1/3 - half of the circuit. The tickets in my opinion were a little expensive (£30 adult, £20 child) but we paid the asking price. There we also big screens scattered around the track to watch the action that you couldn't see. Toilets - there are lots of toilet around the circuit but do expect to queue, don't leave it till the last minute!!!!! Food - there are many food outlets around the circuit ranging from burgers and chips to donuts. We took our own food but did purchase some chips. The chips we £5.00 for a portion, which was small considering the cost but as we took bread rolls we were able to make a few chip butties!! The mega store in my opinion was probably a little small as I was expecting it to sell many items for the event but they only sold Donington clothing and souvenirs. If you wanted racing team memorabilia then you had to go over to the racing teams trailer shops. In all a good day had and hopefully we will make this a regular thing. Pricing - Tickets Adult £35, Teen £21, programme £6 (all pre booked). Seats Adult £30, Teen £20. Food chips £5 (x2)....
