We'll, it's a good walk, but the historical perspective needs some work. The informational signs are rather old and getting difficult to read, which is a pity as this is a very historic place. There are no facilities, and very limited parking of the road. Beware that if you walk down beyond the road bridge, then it is a dead end. Unfortunately, the lower section is private land with some very unwelcome barb wire. You can do a circular walk by starting at the road. Then descend the incline to just after the road bridge. Take the path to the left, and cross the field until you come out on the main road in Swanington. Turn left, and follow the main road until you reach the pub. In your left. Take the path to the right of the pub (there are two signs, follow the one towards Stevenson College. Follow the broad path up the hill, eventually you turn left on a smaller path to ta take you back to your start. I suggest you consult an OS map, then it...

I live up the road in Ashby and finally got round to cycling here to take a look! A local heritage group have looked after this piece of industrial history. The incline itself is a fairly steep, straight section of old railway and full of bird life. At the top, an old red water pump, the engine that pulled trucks up back in the day is now in the York Railway Museum apparently. There are great info boards around if you're interested. Also at the top, an actual section of railway giving you a good idea of how it was. The incline looked like it had lovely walks at either end, but we cycled off to...
