Castlerock Beach — Attraction in Northern Ireland

Here last weekend with the family and took the car onto the beach. Wasn’t that sunny but had a great time. Beach was spotless no rubbish laying anywhere which is always nice to see. Over the course of the day we noticed a lot of peoples cars getting stuck trying to get out. When it was our turn to go our car nearly got stuck because the sand was so soft. Definitely don’t recommend taking your car onto this beach if it’s not a 4x4. The beach attendants do not help in anyway if a car gets stuck they just stand and watch people. This visit was unplanned as we were traveling from Londonderry to Belfast by train. We thoroughly enjoyed it. The seaside felt safe. It was crowded, clean and enjoyable beach. You can also park your car near to the beach. We kept our luggage at a cafe right next to the train station. Upon our return, we had sandwich toasts at the same cafe, and they were truly delicious. Beautiful beach, but the dog mess is a serious issue. 10 months from last visit and this hasn't improved. Even along the walkway/ pier was like dodge the dog mess. Mortified, showing off our beautiful beaches to friends. Benone, nor the Ports' beaches, have this problem.
