Brilliant views of all parts of Belfast and the surrounding area. Parked at the car park at the bottom and made the walk up from there to the Giants ring itself. Followed the sign posts up but halfway up you're faced with a narrow path which is over grown with bushes and fallen fences making it tricky to navigate. Once up though it was worth the trip, fantastic piece of history. On the ebay back down spotted a small step over fence and went through that, it brought us out at Edenderry village. What a hidden gem it was, first street felt like I was on a TV set it was very quaint. Went round the corner and the area was beautiful, village news etc posted up on the notice board and a phone book used for a book exchange. Felt miles away from anywhere but knew it was so close to Belfast as well. Definitely recommend visiting the Giants ring and the...

This site is ultra cool, it may not look like much but it is an amazing piece of preserved history a short drive from Belfast City centre. A Neolithic earth mound henge with collection of stones presumably a tomb. It is a well maintained site that offers a nice country walk around the circumference of this once important ceremonial site. entrance is free and makes for a perfect afternoon trip. The day I went was hot, as they say in Belfast "the sun was splitting the trees"... there was a small crowd of people coming and going walking dogs and enjoying the sunshine, Believe it or not, I got sunburnt in...

Astonishingly very little known site in N.Ireland. A place older than the pyramids! Has thankfully - by and large - been left to age naturally and gracefully. Said to be a tomb, but also possibly used for rituals, sacrifices etc. The views are worth it alone - but having a chance to see something so old and wonder about the people and events this amazing place has been host to over it's 1,000's of years of existence is my favourite thing about it. Has an amazing 'feeling' about it. 'The history is heavy upon you in this place' -- to paraphrase. Over 5,000 years...

Walked here from Minowburn car park via the terrace garden. There is a car park right next to this if you just want to see the ring, depending on what time you visit probably space there for about 10-15 cars. You can walk around the outer ditch to take in some views of the surrounding area. There are a few stones remaining inside to look at. Including the Terrace garden, the walk took me approximately an hour with a few stops and detours.

Great spot for a walk from Minnowburn car park, over the The Giant’s Ring, around the top of ‘the ring’ and then out along Shawsbridge along the River Lagan back to Minnowburn. Not a place to visit in the dark as other less family friendly activities happen then. During the day loads of dog walkers visit. Just a shame the bin is right beside the entrance and it isn’t very big - not the most pleasant sight as you go through the gates

Neolithic monument just outside Belfast in the Lagan Valley. Sitting on an elevated flat plateau in lush countryside it Consists of a large Earthen Bank 200meters in diameter with Dolmen off centred. About 5000 years old. Part of a larger burial complex of which the ring is the most visible. Makes for a enjoyable walk with countryside views all around.
