It's an amazing viewpoint over all Oldham, Great Manchester and towards the Yorkshire border and Ashton and Rochdale. Always cold and windy plus it's apparently the highest spot in Oldham. Lots of parking spaces and only one Bench so best of luck! If you go with a long zoom camera of binoculars you'll be able to see the Widnes bridge and the mountains of Wales on a clear day, just remember it's always windy and cold! Update not sure which walkers are letting the animals defecate all over the place but ended up with poop on my shoes and all over someone's car mat disgusting. If you can't clean your animals mess don't go up there.

Marks the highest point in Oldham, at 1233 feet above sea level. The monument commemorates a local family who gave the land at Bishop Park to the borough of Oldham, stunning views, from here yoy can see four counties and Wales on a clear day, well worth the walk up the windy hill.

Updated 2024: awful place now. Carpark full of litter despite large refuse bin being installed. Broken glass everywhere. Whipped cream canisters, beer cans, McDonald's and other take away refuse strewn about the place and not just in the carpark. Burnt out fridges and other flytipped household waste left in the carpark for weeks. Dangerous for dogs given the incredible mount of rubbish just left to fester and get covered with more rubbish and debris. Significant number of people who do use the place to walk their dogs and not as a rubbish dump, don't bother picking up the poo. So if you can ignore or avoid the rubbish, you'll probably end up with dog dirt on your shoes. Go to Crompton Moor instead. At least the council monitor the place and lock the carpark after dark. I'd definitely think twice about letting your children sledge here if it snows. That brown sludge might not just be soil mixed...
