If your heading to The Trinnacle you should park in Bin Green car park. Its free to park. Just off road. You need to look for the sign Bin Green as Google maps doesn't take you directly to it. It takes you to the road it's on. So when on the road look for the sign Bin Green. Secondly once parked. you will go down through a wooded area, through a tight gap in the rock wall which leads you out to a small road. Take a left. Follow it down towards the reservoir bridge. You can either take the circular walk around the lake itself or if you're there for the Trinnacle then you go over the bridge and you come across a fairly wide dirt track to the left that goes up the hill side. This walk is moderate to hard in some areas. Depending on how fit you are. It can get steep in areas. But once you're up at the top it's smooth sailing from there. Just follow the track on your left all round the hillside until you reach The Trinnacle itself. It's a good 30-40min walk. The views are incredible also. Now if you're a thrill seeker and brave enough. You could climb on top of the Trinnacle rocks for that incredible photograph but I would highly suggest not to. As it's a long way down if you make one small mistake, it could be fatal. There's no railing no support and it's out in the open overhanging a big drop. It's more dangerous than you think. I don't like heights very much so I chose not to as my life is way more important than climbing a rock. So be careful out there but also enjoy...
Read moreWe did the full walk along the peaks of Dovestone reservoir. The Trinnacle was our last spot; and after doing to full hike around, I have to say, this was rather disappointing. There's much more beautiful views further on.
If you're making this you first stop, I would recommend wearing good walking shoes or boots. GOOD STURDY FOOTWEAR IS REQUIRED FOR THE ENTIRE TREK AROUND THE PEAKS. Don't be the fool who wears trainers and whines when they get dirty, or their bad choice of old worn out trainers causes a slip and fall. (yes, we saw both happen). The steep ascent/descent (depending which way you come) brings you to a boggy slippy path and dauntingly close to a fast flowing stream and waterfalls. Be prepared for a climb and slippy rocks.
Be smart, stay vigilant and if you're bringing your dog, be sure they are well trained. Having your pooch pulling relentlessly on the lead whilst you're trying to climb down the steep descents isn't something you want. (yes, we saw someone almost get thrown down the cliff). It ruins everyone's day if there's a...
Read moreHard walk to reach the Trinnacle but totally worth it! We went uphill 1st and down along the river. We stayed all day and had picnic next to the Trinnacle. Amazing spot! My youngest is 4 and made it. We parked at Binn Green carpark for FREE. Took the anticlockwise trail (Trinnacle trail on Alltrails app) not sure it was the best decision to go 1st up hill but it was great to end the hard part of the walk with the river and put our feet in it. Did the hike with 5 kids from 4 to 12 years old, it was a challenge but we re...
