A lovely, friendly church with a warm welcome for all. I was a regular as a child/teen (aged 10 - 18), then, in my late 20s, worshipped there with my husband and (a couple of years later) two very young children, before moving away from Oxford.
There's plenty going on for all ages, including a creche and Junior Church on Sundays, summer & Advent holiday club for 5 - 12 year olds, the Youth Emmaus course for young people ... and at the other end of the age scale, coffee mornings and groups such as over 50s.
We mostly attended the main Sunday service at 10am, which is very much middle-of-the-road Anglican, with good, positive preaching, and generally well-known and lively hymns (plus occasional choir anthems). First Sundays are All Age Worship. We always felt welcome in the services with our rather loud toddler and baby!
Evening services at 6pm are normally more formal, but with an informal, music-focused WATCH service once a month. We would have loved to get to more of these as we really enjoyed having something a bit different.
There's also morning communion at 8am on Sundays but we never made it to that!
St Nick's had no whiff of the factions, cliques or disagreements I've sometimes heard about in other churches, and there was a real sense of everyone working together for the good of the church and for the community (Marston) as a whole.
We're sorry to have moved away, and look forward to visiting whenever we're...
