I just had the most frightening experience. I stopped by for a couple of pints... Empty pub, a few painters and builders on site. I must admit, I was tired and with other problems on my mind.... Just needed some beer and a little odd down time... Couple of pints... Trip to the toilet... Clean and Not smelly.. Coming out, there are 3 doors: to the left, staff only, but not secured, slightly to the right and in front of you, the door back to the bar, but no sign.. To the right, another opened door... To somewhere. I made the mistake to turn left, trough the "staff only", unsecured door. A massive white , half my size white dog barged through another opened back door, straight at me, barking and not leaving my side for about 10 minutes!! Having had been attacked by stray dogs a long time ago, I could only stand there, talking to the animal, whilst it was barking loudly, sniffing me, obviously protecting it's turf. 10 minutes later, one of the painters showed up and led the dog away. I walked back to the bar, where I left my stuff and told the the bar lady person that they really should keep the dog off the premises, as it attacked me. I've asked if they didn't hear the dog barking.. They said "yes", but didn't bother. To my astonishment, in a very offensive tone and raised voice, she asked me what was I doing back there... I just answered "I took the wrong turn". As if it was a normal thing for the big white dog to be on the premises, with no apology, she walked off, talking and laughing with the builders about the whole situation. And to conclude the rant, if you ever are in need of the toilet at the #Redlion, #Marston, #Greneeking,....mind the white dog.... It seems to be the only...
Read moreGreat motorhome stopover within 2 miles of Oxford city centre. Room for several motorhomes- there were 10 there on the first night we stayed. Bus stop (no 14 bus) outside the pub. The stopover and use of toilets are free if you eat / drink in the pub. We had Sunday lunch. It was delicious. Very generous portions of well cooked tasty beef that fell apart when cut and / or chicken breast (two breasts if you had only chicken). Roast potato’s, several different veg, a Yorkshire and plenty of gravy that was regularly refilled. Great selection of deserts all with cream, ice cream or custard. 3 puddings, a crumble, fudge cake and 4 cheesecakes. The crumble portion was twice the size of most restaurants and was perfect. Sticky toffee pudding and hot chocolate fudge cake equally nice. Good range of beer and gin. Food a drink and tea / coffee for a little over £30 a head. Excellent value. Friendly staff and clean facilities. We will return and use as a...
