This is a beautiful part of Wimborne that we have been coming to for about 30yrs, watching it develop & change into what it now is. The addition of the main car park allows many more to enjoy this easy access area suitable for the whole family. People have mentioned jumping off the bridge, there was a huge concrete block under the water (not sure if still there) & there are other unseen hazards which could make this activity extremely dangerous. It is up to the individual/parent/guardian to make the call as if its safe to jump but I personally wouldn't recommend it. Dogs love to swim in this water, ours loves nothing more than chasing a stick thrown in. Wildlife abounds from birds & insects to otters? & fish of all sorts & sizes swim along trying to avoid the fisherman's lure. On a warm sunny day or a cold winters one this is a beautiful...

Great place for a walk out of peak times. There is a car park and an over flow carpark here though in peak times these can get full fairly quickly but in quite times (early morning and through the cooler months) parking is not a problem. You can do a short walk on the path next to the river, heading up stream or a slightly longer circular walk of about an hour (depending on pace) by looping taking a footpath up to pamhill (where you can see a large bluebell wood in April/May (see my seprate review for this). There is plenty of wildlife to be seen here including Kingfishers, otters ,Egrets, Herons and Roe deer. I can thoroughly recommend getting there early morning if you want to catch the wildlife and a lovely sunrise from the...

A relaxing walk from Wimborne centre along the river with some great wildlife- herons fishing lazily by the riverbank, swans giving their cute cygnets a piggyback and water voles a common sight if you look carefully.

There’s a continuous chorus of birdsong as you stroll towards the bridge with the distinct echoing sound of woodpeckers amongst the tallest trees.

The Riverbank by the bridge itself is great for catching sticklebacks in a jar or watching your four legged friend doggy paddle in the endless pursuit of ball or stick...

Even better is to continue over the bridge and across the meadow to the Lamb’s Green for lunch - this makes a perfect round trip but do watch out the young bulls in the field- they can be a little...

What a great little swimming spot in the sun! Parking can be tricky here but if you can park and dont mind a walk then this is the place for you! We managed to park up on the side of the road (half in the bush) and then walk down. There is a grass area both sides of the bridge so you can bring a picnic and make a day of it, especially if you have family etc I would advise that you being water shoes if you dont want to step on small rocks/pebbles like I did 🙄. Water is nice and not too dirty as it flows continuously. There are also some nice walking paths alongside the river as well. Please take the time to check out this little spot as it's easier than the beach on a busy day (just no sand). Check it out
