I must confess, museums like this are not usually my thing, but we passed a sign on the main road and decided as it was raining that we'd check it out, my partner enjoys his engines and industrial history. There's so much more to this museum than meets the eye, we spent about an hour playing in the old working telephone exchange and talking to the volunteer there. Another very knowledgeable chap was in the steam shed and we chatted with him also for ages. After a tea and cake stop we went back round to see what we had missed. There's atleast 7or8 machines actually working away as well as radios to get hands on with and lots of other relics like motorbikes. It's a proper hidden gem.

What an amazing place. This place definitely undersells itself. This place has the most amazing exhibits of internal combustion engines and some very interesting steam exhibits, and then a very good variety of motorcycles some of which are very rare, then walk across the yard and you have the telephone and radio sections that are very interactive and entertaining.. You can definitely spend a good half a day here looking at all the exhibits and then a nice little cafe that was spot on. Well done to all involved and keep up The good work.the one thing I would say is maybe redescribe yourself as you are so much more than internal fire.

Fantastic museum with exhibits covering internal combustion engines and steam powered engines ,radio and telecommunications and classic motor cycles.. well worth a visit. The museum is staffed by very friendly and knowledgeable volunteers who are very welcoming and approachable. Big shout out to Hazel Evan’s who does a fantastic job on reception and cafe area.

This place is a gem. The museum has some excellent exhibits of diesel engines and steam ones too. The staff and volunteers are very welcoming and knowledgeable.

There are diesel engines, steam engines, telephone exchange equipment, radio equipment etc. The way the museum is laid out is very good too.

I think older children will get the most out of this museum. However, that's not to say younger children will not enjoy the museum as there are interactive exhibits in the telephone exchange and radio rooms.

There is a charity shop/ gift shop where all the proceeds go towards the running of the museum. The coffee shop/cafe is very reasonably priced.

Prices are £6.75 for adults, £6 concessions, £3.50 children, £18 family ticket (2 adults and 2 children)

I highly recommend this museum for a visit if you're in the area.

You'll need about 2 hours to complete your visit. My favourite exhibit was the marine/radio room. There was a Morse code exhibit where you can practice Morse code. You can also play the Morse code interaction of the ill faited titanic and rescue ship/ vessels...

a mind-blowing selection of the most amazing items I have ever come across, myself and my wife were engrossed and ,literally, lost track of time being absorbed by exhibits which were saved from oblivion , i suspect by the saviours of the static and generating engine world. once we had recovered from the shock of such an impressive and thorough display we then found yet more totally phenomenal items of unrivalled fascination. The visit was enhanced even further with, friendly, knowledgeable and warmly funny footnotes and info on may of the exhibits. Without doubt an absolute gem requiring further investment and support from the wider engineering community. My warmest thanks to the team and fondest wishes for...

We went to The Last Night At The Museum, event as always and absolutely loved it. One can just loose oneself watching the engines, smelling the associated smells and listening to the wonderful gentle sound they make. The place was heaving and the ladies in their 1920s dress and some gentlemen too, just added to the atmosphere. A huge thankyou to everyone involved for all your dedicated hard work in bringing these engines back to life and organising the displays for us to admire. It is very much appreciated. I could listen to the sounds all day and drift away.... I can recommended this museum as a place to visit for anyone in the area, young and old alike, something for...
