Bizarre experience, we were looking for a local cafe for hot drinks (me, husband, daughter aged 10) We entered, it looked quite busy though not full. Waited at a serving hatch which looked straight into the kitchen, as there didn't appear to be anywhere obvious to ask about a table. A few members of staff managed to walk by without meeting our eye, a lady did eventually come up to the hatch, didn't say hi or anything, just waited for me to speak, I asked if it was possible to get some hot drinks, she looked at me a bit wildly and then peered around the tables in a way that I took to mean 'no' although not sure why. This was unfortunately more like a school dinner and a bad one at that. Sliced processed beef, a hard (really hard) cube of stuffing, watery cabbage, tasteless carrots, boiled potatoes and ‘gravy-‘ It wouldn’t be so bad if it cost £7 each (max) and that would be pushing it but £12! Read moreThis is a lovely little eaterie. Beautifully prepared traditional cuisine. I had ham eggs and sweet potato fries. Extremely accommodating and friendly staff. The Mocha I drank there also nice. Yvonne runs this café with the utmost professionality and fantastic customer service skills. A wonderful and relaxing meal. I normally live on protein shake so evidently this food is special. It's good, old fashioned humble food, with the addition of contemporary favourites such as sweet potato fries.
