Piercebridge Roman Fort — Attraction in Piercebridge

A lovely small village to visit.There is a Roman fort there.Not much is left but diagrams do show what it would of looked like.You can not longer get down to the river bank as hog weed is growing along parts of this.Limited access along the foot path,not suitable for disabled or people with limited walking along the foot path.There is a pub in the village which is open for business.A nice place to visit as some lovely cottages etc...

Interesting place. To think that there used to be a massive roman Fort right there! They are ruins now but the signs help understand what it would be like. There is also a friendly cat which appeared from over the wall and a farm shop on the opposite side of the road. Good, interesting spot. Plus the east gate and outer wall founds. set next to the dere street Roman road from york of to corbridge and beyond, to a wall made of earth between Glasgow and Edinburgh before Hadrians wall was built .
