We did get slightly confused and went to wrong zoo. So be aware of that. When we did get there it was great and had lots of talks and interactive activities and with the animals. They had some really exotic animals I had never seen before and you got to touch them and learn about them at the end of the day. I say take a picnic with you as the shed/cafe is a little limited but they are doing the best they can so encourage by visiting. The staff are brilliant and so knowledgeable. We loved the Australian area where the wallabies where around your feet and kookaburras filling the air with laughter.Meerkats were brilliant too and the lemars. It also has a play and picnic area. It’s a perfect day out for a young family and everything is in close proximity. They only have one toilet area at the beginning so if your child needs emergency toilet be aware of timings of getting back to the block for that. Brillant day had by all. The kids absolutely loved touching the corn snake and Gheko. Great for inspiring new generation David Attenboroughs and teaching people about the planet we so need...

This is a little gem of a place. The staff are incredibly friendly and knowledgeable and willing to answer any questions you have.

My Mum booked a meerkat experience for my 8 year old daughter and it was honestly wonderful. She had the best time and John made sure she understood the safety aspect before being able to go into the enclosure. Lots of things to see and a discovery room which is open at certain times through the day to have a closer look at tortoises, bearded dragons or snakes. You won’t see tigers or lions here but it is good to see that conservation is absolutely at the heart of everything they do and as it is a part of Northumbria college they are training a whole new generation of people to care for the environment and the animals in it.

Wallaby walk is lovely, there is an aquarium area, a barn with Guinea pigs and rabbits, a reptile house etc.

Wonderful place to spend a good few hours.

Prices of the cafe isn’t bad at all, we got snacks and drinks for 4 people for about £11 also there are two play areas for when the kids feel the...

We had a wonderful time at Northumberland College Zoo! From the moment we arrived, the staff were warm, welcoming, and happy to share their knowledge about the animals. There’s a lovely variety of wildlife to see — from playful meerkats and beautiful birds to farm animals that children can get up close to.

The zoo is a great size for families, with plenty of space to explore without feeling rushed. Everything is well signposted, clean, and clearly cared for. The enclosures are thoughtfully designed, and it’s obvious the animals are well looked after.

There are lots of educational displays and opportunities for kids to learn while having fun. We especially enjoyed the feeding talks and seeing some of the rarer animals we don’t usually get to spot.

It’s also good value for money, and the café area is a nice spot for a snack or picnic. Overall, it’s a relaxed, friendly, and affordable day out that we’d happily recommend to families of all ages.

We’ll definitely be...

Very informative guides especially in the Discovery center. Activities include feeding the animals during their allocated feeding time, a lovely place for a picnic, there's a shop for a drink and snacks. Something to look forward to during a school holiday and or weekend. Conveniently located.
