Used to be a nice little cafe as I have posted in the past. Went there today I'm not sure what's changed but wow what a change. First of all when we arrived there were a lot of people getting ready to go into the cafe I couldn't say 2pm on Sunday was late , we arrived into the cafe before the others only to be greeted by all the lights switched off and the place was freezing . The lady came from the back and quite rudely informed us "I've got no hot food or paninis at this time of day cos we close at 2.30 . Also there's only coffee" so we left . The other people were on there way in just wondering what her reaction to those were as she obviously just wanted to go home . At 2pm on a bank holiday Sunday? . Anyway we wont be going back to bother her again which is a shame as it was a...

A cafe favoured by cyclists, some of whom bring their bikes on cars and park in the large (free) car park before starting their ride. Friendly staff who helped me out with something, and pleasant outside tables if it's sunny (they have indoor tables also). Clean toilets available. There's even a bike repair shop (Watbike) on site! So perhaps you could get some minor tweaks done to your bike while you relax with a coffee before or after your ride?

Lost a 'star' because my flapjack was very dry, and I thought the menu was slightly on the expensive side (I appreciate people have to make a living), also the opening hours are surprisingly short: only open until 2:30pm even at the weekend, up to late April - although they do stay open...

Cycled there today and had a mug of tea and a lovely toasted teacake with butter and raspberry jam costing £4.20. There is only outside seating mostly on grass with please t views of the countryside. The woman that takes the orders at a cuppy hole is so friendly and welcoming. To get there take the road from the mini roundabout in Ponteland heading north past Police HQ for 2.5 miles and Kirkley cafe is on the left. I would defo recommend this cafe for a very friendly service...

Tea was just warm watery milk for some reason the staff removed the tea bag rather than letting me decide how strong I liked it, took it back and was given a fresh cup with tea bag left in and separate milk, why not just do that in the first place? Friends coffee was forgotten about and yet again had to go back and tell the staff. Sausage sandwich was nothing special. Scone was dry. Heard lots of good things about this place but wasn't really that impressed. Photo is off washed out tea 😕

Called in for breakfast on the way back from a short break. Very popular with cyclists and we went on a Sunday morning which meant it was quite busy. Service was fast and the staff were very friendly.
